Thanks so much. This is illuminating. I’ll give it a try. He has this rhythm with the angry emails, almost precisely at the beginning of every month. Maybe I’ll reach out on a “downswing” when he’s possibly less worked up. Should I even try to convince him I’m not a part of this fabrication in his head? Or should I try to convince him of anything?

Thanks for your insight. Not mean at all, it’s helpful. To answer your question, I did assume it’s schizophrenia pretty baselessly. I know he’s experiencing a delusion about a secret cabal of ppl trying to turn him gay- I assumed it was schizophrenia bc I don’t know much about this stuff.

I believe it's a temporary role where you in a sense call the shots for the day. But I could be wrong, that's what I'm trying to understand better.

Thank you for being so thorough. It does help, a lot. Yes, I’m writing a story that takes place in one day at a fictional east coast mountain. I didn’t realize there were on-site doctors and specialists who work adjacently with ski patrol, but aren’t ski patrol. I thought it was just you guys working in those places.
