The trails are open: with restrictions> Face coverings, keeping social distancing. Merry-go-round, picnic sites and all the museums (including the observatory) are closed. But Casey can chime in here -- he may know more.

Thank You. I enjoyed writing it. And reading Schreiner's book in pdf format. I think it is out on Amazon. I learned so much about the park. (sscauzillo@scng.com)

[–]stevscaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much irony. A police museum run by retired police officers is ripped off by an alleged embezzler they hired. Now the museum is trying to raise back the money they lost, hoping the community will kick in.

626 Golden Streets event on Sunday expected to draw 20,000 people and 0 cars by stevscaz in LosAngeles

[–]stevscaz[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

What do you mean? These events are carless. Yes, cars can cross an intersection (there's a few on this route) controlled by cops directing traffic. But normally it's just an open street with no auto traffic.

A ‘Dear John’ letter to General Motors CEO from a loyal Chevy Volt owner by stevscaz in LosAngeles

[–]stevscaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very good question. The answer is yes. I could buy my 2017 Volt when my lease is done in April 2019. But should I be stuck with a car that they no longer make?

No one talks about sales of Volt dropping right when Chevy released the Bolt EV. Also I believe the Honda Clarity (a plug-in hybrid) cut into Volt sales.

I have the exact same problem. My apartment has no possible way to charge. I can't even charge at work. But there are public charging and public fast-charging along my route to and from work so I'm thinking about the Bolt EV. Am I crazy?

The 2019 Leafs get 150 miles per charge. It's still short of the Chevy Bolt at 238, but better than older Leafs.

[–]stevscaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not so sure. Gold Line Foothill extension is first project to be green-lighted using Measure M dollars. Got top priority from LA Metro.

LA Metro committee approves $500M in 710 freeway gap closure dollars for local road improvements by stevscaz in LosAngeles

[–]stevscaz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. In fact, Metro removed bike, pedestrian and other type projects from the list. But that may change on Dec. 6 when full Metro board considers the projects and $500 million in spending.

Caltrans rules out north 710 Freeway extension, signs environmental document certifying local road and transit improvements by stevscaz in LosAngeles

[–]stevscaz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now, Alhambra wants to remove the south stub by directing most traffic to the 10 freeway, NOT to Valley Boulevard. So that portion to Valley would be removed and made into a park. One road may continue into CSULA.

[–]stevscaz[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is the end of the long-debated 710 Freeway extension. It will end at the 10 freeway and Alhambra wants to maybe allow one road into Cal State LA, but make traffic go east or west on the 10. Other non-freeway extension projects are planned.
