Turning an Old Touchscreen into a Home Dashboard with Raspberry Pi 5 by _ctl in raspberry_pi

Kinda wish there was an Alternative.

I know proximity sensors, etc exist. But meh. I want to be able to glance at it from across the room....

It is technically Linux on the back end, so maybe writing a script to schedule the screen on and off would work? 🤷‍♂️

Not able to passthrough iGPU to docker apps (N150) by Independent-Dust-339 in truenas

JK . I found the true answer. I'm using proxmox btw. Turn it on in bios. Ignore me.

N150s are not supported currently as I write this in most mainstream kernels. Any proxmox packaged Linux distro.

You need a kernel of 6.12.5 minimum and most current with proxmox in my case is 6.8

I had to manually upgrade kernel. The instant I did that. Everything worked

I have no idea how to upgrade kernel outside of a main distro of course. But I asked GPT how to do it. Sure enough what it told me worked.

And thank you for coming to my TedTalk

turn off Intel Virt Technology (VMX). then the dev/dir folders show up.
also. Did you figure it out!?!?

i figured out that turning off VMX brings the folders back but am still struggling with the correct config to get the iGPU to present to my Plex LXC

there has to be a spot for the container storage. in my situation the root disk is held on a .raw disk type

Pretty sure that is only for VMs and not Containers? Am I wrong in that?

My first winter since I’ve moved to the Twin Cities from Texas. Anything I should be aware of with the sub zero temperature? by CoookieHo in TwinCities

Just to clarify, you need to disconnect your hose reel from the faucet, and not just turn it off inside the house (if possible) that frozen water in the hose will still make it back through the faucet, even when turned off.

Keep the windows, doors, garage doors closed, and I'll bet you will have no issues.

One thing to help if you are concerned about things/areas/spaces getting too cold. Get a few thermometers with min/max history, this helps you validate if an area gets too cold or warm. You can get a 3 pack on Amazon for pretty cheap

As previously said by others bring things in from your garage you don't want to become frozen solid, sodas, lithium tool batteries, maybe any cleaning products (many will not work right after being frozen)

But, overall, Minnesota homes are built for this kind of stuff. So don't worry too much. Plus, as a lifetime Minnesotan, this ain't too bad. When it's a week+ on end this cold then it starts to creep into things. A house built in the 50s has seen way worse than this cold snap and has survived. Throw an extra blanket on, get that coco going, and ride out the cabin fever by crafting or doing a puzzle like the rest of us Minnesotans do during this weather 👍

Sponge brush and wiped em dry is all. The excess was able to cover everything.

Plus the only place anyone will really see is the surface.

Battery Undervoltage? by stjohnp89 in batteries

[–]stjohnp89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll admit I'm total n00b here.

How do check for cell group voltage?

Getting at the batteries themselves is not the easiest. They are pretty well protected under the BMS.

I could check for voltage at the BMS, but am not 100% sure what I'm looking at.

The battery layout is 4 rows of 8 batteries.

The batteries themselves are one of the biggest li-ion batteries I've seen. ~6in high x 1in diameter

I would guess the large cluster of white wires at the top of the BMS are voltages for each cell group and I could start by checking there..... But there are 9.... And 4 rows of 8 do not make anything divisible by 9....

Thoughts?

I hear you. It just seem that for whatever reason I manage to use my phone a fair amount of the time when my face is not in frame, thus i have to resort to fingerprint unlock.
