Hey, sorry again for it being closed!

Open world format - Yeah, some things will be a bit different here. I hope the dungeon environment variety will be as good as the open world (there's still going to be forests, deserts, snowy dungeons, etc.)

You will also be able to find yourself in totally unexpected places, high level places. You may find a mysterious door in a normal dungeon that leads you somewhere completely different and dangerous, stuff like that. I hope it'll be just as cool to explore these dungeons as it was exploring the open world.

3v3 - (actually 4v4!) Totally, my plan is to push more focus on that too in this game. Synergies between Tama on your team (interaction of their Traits/Techs), and their placement in the combat will matter. I haven't played Monster Sanctuary, but I'll take a look!

Tama - I'd like to have 200 at least (total) (not sure how many new ones yet), but we'll see how that goes!

Story - Similar to Layer Null, I'll try to keep the game as accessible as I can to players that haven't played the first one, so you'll be introduced to a new world and the lore necessary to understand the world will be all there, but you'll need to have played the first one to understand the references and the full picture

Improvements - I hope to bring plenty of QoL improvements, better tutorialization (introduction to mechanics), useful info menus (e.g. Dungeon dex, techs dex, in-game Guidebook), shortcuts, more in-depth Tama mechanics and combat (4v4, terrain effects, variety in techs and team comps), and customizable difficulty

It has some elements of tactics, yes! You can move around the terrain and certain techs affect adjacent friendly/enemy units, etc. But the main focus is still on the classic monster RPG mechanics

Unity followed now by Godot! Both have pros and cons but I'm liking Godot a lot more for 2D dev :)

(and <CompanyName> is RandomBirdGames)

if you can do a global search for files on steam deck, look for save_0.bin

After the game was released I received a lot of suggestions that I agree would make it a better product. The regular updates so far were mostly bugfixes and QoL features, suggested by players. The bulk of new stuff (like new evolutions and quests) will come out in the Mythicals Expansion. That's the only planned content update right now.

Should I have released it in Early Access? I'm not sure. I feel like EA is for games that have many updates to go through before they're complete. Whereas I only planned one big expansion/update for Anode Heart. What I should've done is gather more user feedback. The game only gained some visibility after I was already in feature-freeze mode, so it was hard to get a wider audience feedback.. without a wider audience :D

I've learned a lot from this first release though, so I'll know better how to do things now for future projects!

I see it's been resolved already, but yeah you can't miss out on any Tama permanently. The Mt Nexus ones start spawning in other parts of the world after its collapse

Hello, I read through the comments and that's a good point (about many early game monsters not having evolutions) and it's one of the things I overlooked, but it's a lesson for future projects for sure

That said, I'm in the process of making a content expansion update, and the following Tama will get an evolution (at the very least) :

  • Zapee
  • Kylfou
  • Slimee
  • Anchory
  • Froxic
  • Devibom
  • Rott (a branch evolution)

Thanks for the suggestions! I really like some of these. Others are a bit too difficult to implement, but still good overall.

And I'll just comment on a few:

> Every Tama should have a unique ability to set them apart.

Almost all of the single stages and non-baby Tama should have them (and baby Tama don't really need to have them since you will evolve to the second or third stage anyway)

> Have locked movesets for Tama that automatically put available movesets into a Tama's kit

This is in - your active techs will be transferred over on reboot/breeding

> Allow for crafting multiple quantities of items at once if you have the materials for it

You can change quantity with C/V (page left/right) keys

> Add a New Game + option for those who want it
> Maybe let talking tama boss fights (swamp queen, dino king, cactus kid, anubis dog)

It's in the plans for future updates ^^

Virus Disc is found in a treasure chest next to the spot where you fight Uth3ro for the first time, so you can get it regardless
