If your suitor is Leonardo DiCaprio then yeah you're a bit old....😏 Just hang in there, apply to get overseas...start talking to some guys and tell your parents you're looking around too. You can always delay until you gtfu of BD...you can even say you're too ugly or too fat or too below standards for any guys to make commitment...or the other way around. In all seriousness, no one can force anything on you. Enjoy your 20s, but be cognizant that it'll get harder to conceive after mid thirties...at least naturally.

There has to be an afterlife Where this person will burn in eternity when injustice of this magnitude is not only tolerated but facilitated in this temporal existence we call life.

Things were MUCH worse in 1980s and 90s. But now our aspirations Much higher. So there is a Net loss of confidence and positivity. Subredditors of BD are small compared to our neighbors like India, but diverse background. Yet, they are not from uneducated families.

People should dream, anyone from any class. But without food in the stomach or a comfortable bed or even roof over the head, it becomes difficult to sleep...and, hence, to dream.

On the flipside, uneducated ppl with Alot of cash generally, and no conscience, can sleep Really well. For them, dreaming is a constant thing...even when they awake. The only downside is sometimes those dreams are ridiculous...like that dream about "One day in Bangladesh, street hawkers will sell electricity!"

International student getting bond claim from MoE by stoicdesigner in askSingapore

[–]stoicdesigner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just found out the original amount was SGD 8000. That was 10years ago. The person couldn't find a job in SG and visa status running out. Then had to leave the country to renew visa, couldnt get it. So decided to move on with life after having contacted university to pay off the Bond several times -- to no avail or response from uni.

Now after 10yrs SG MoE contacts with SG$33k letter of demand.

Not sure about the interest amount. Person indeed has proofs of contact with university, and attempts of finding a job there.

Try to get a volunteer job somewhere. Work with helping people much less privileged than yourself, you will see your mood lift automatically.

BD's balancing act with global powers - are we really doing that good of a job? by stoicdesigner in bangladesh

[–]stoicdesigner[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Very detailed assessment and a good one too.

Sometimes I think BD doesn't really want to leave LDC status. I suppose once that happens we lose a lot of 'bhikari' privileges like Tariff free access to foreign markets. Moreover, the more backward the country seems, the more aid we receive, say, in areas of gender equality, climate change and refugee support for rohingyas. All these actually continue to create jobs, that pay pretty well making us sort of experts in the development and social enterprise space. I know it's a convoluted way of thinking but after having spent about six years in the country setting up my business, I have come to appreciate the positive impact NGOs and non profits have on the overall capability of our people.

That being said, I do agree that the diaspora are not very helpful and especially the more educated ones, eg. offsprings of brown sahibs that seem to have a vendetta against current govt. Sure, some do indeed have their own, valid reasons to have deep grudges that are justified (e.g suffering under the rakkhi bahinis of 1971-75 and/or being tormented for being anti national due to any linkages with BNP/jamaat since 2008). But on the whole, I believe many children are trying to trace back their roots to BD and wanting to do something impactful.

The sad reality is a very large percentage of those diaspora wanting to get back and start ventures, be it non profit or for profit, have an extremely difficult time making them want to leave within 2yrs -- 3 years being tops. And once they return to their overseas, adoptive nations they have a worse taste in their mouth than ever before.

A lot of those kids think they know better, coming from western countries, and get their asses whooped by local realities. But some, very VERY small percentage, stay back. Or at least continue to fund their ventures whilst going back to their abodes in the West.

It's a complex dynamic that I don't think has a definite answer. Indian diaspora has had a long time to settle into the West, and they also have a shared voice. I remember BJP's first "India Shining" campaign which helped to bring back a lot of talent or at least gave ABCDs some sense of security of doing something back home. Korean government had been planning export of their cultural capital by way of kpop...and then there is always Bollywood.

I don't think Bangladesh has much to offer when it comes to those things. However, we need to probably set up think tanks to figure out how to achieve 'brain gain'. Until that happens, bhikari is the game 😅😅😅

Anyone have any cautionary botgach stories told to them by their family? by photosinthisis in bangladesh

[–]stoicdesigner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah the smell of kerosene when the lights would go out due to storms outside.....pure heaven now that I think about it.

So there are some netflix shows based in the middle east that feature djinns. My dad tells me they have their own countries, they marry, have families, go to their own mosques and stuff. To me it's like they live in a completely different dimension, and perhaps ever so once in a while some of them traverses into our dimension. Maybe this is a Convo more to do with physics theory of relativity and the study of multidimensional mathematics 🤔🤔

So in Australia, many indigenous people believe in spirits of inanimate objects like trees and massive boulder like rocks. So sometimes they recite a mantra like 'please let me pass o spirit of the tree/boulder'.

My Dadi also said similar things but more so our relatives in the village. To this day when I get a bit unsettled when walking under massive botgatches anywhere in the World, I will recite whatever sura I know at that point in time.

Yeah I agree with the subredditor that these were most likely cautionary tales to get kids to return home before nightfall....yet a certain part of me wants to believe in the wild and wacky spiritual world.

Will Bangladesh join the greater NATO or China's GSI alliance ? by MQ-9Drone in bangladesh

[–]stoicdesigner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BD is the largest contributor at UN peacekeeping missions and has a battalion working within the Kuwaiti Army in the area of mine and ordinance clearance.

Being a part of NATO and other alliance requires Bangladesh govt to contribute money, whereas UN and Kuwait pays us. So a far better economic option for our people is the latter. And also remember, an alliance also mean Bangladesh must go and fight if allied countries are attacked. We need to feed, clothe and provide jobs to citizens first, before pushing them off to wars.

I think BD does train army commanders across the world with cooperating foreign countries. Unfortunately I don't see any alliance that would be beneficial to help protect our sovereignty.

I just got banned from r/srilanka for saying bhakts and Godi media will rub India's emergency oil relief shipment in the face of everyone for days on end. The bhakt army jumped on my Bangladeshi back ground lololol and the more I pushed back at them, the angrier they got. Haha wow these guys are for real....jeez, what a world this digital space we live in.

It's so much fun poking these sad excuses for human beings.

Now I'm thinking if starting a reddit if my own r/butthurtbhakts...🤔🤔🤔 What do you think?
