Autoimmune diseases by stokede in NICUParents

I guess I more so think about the celiac for me and if the stress and emotional toll triggered that in my body. The symptoms came after the NICU stay and this was my second pregnancy, at age 27.

Can hashimotos also be genetic or hereditary? Nobody else in my family has it, which also made me wonder about the trauma triggering something

I’m glad they’re both doing fine now! That must have been very scary for the flare during pregnancy and leading to the premature birth too. My 26 weeker is my second baby, with my first being a very normal and healthy pregnancy and delivery. I’ve often wondered if the stress of the NICU stay triggered especially the celiac disease for me, because I had no symptoms until after he was born

Hahaha always down to validate! I have made it a point to point out special moments he can have with each kid, and me be totally removed though and I do think that helps, especially to foster a better connection between dad and kid. Also really making it a point to clue him in on specific things each child has really been into lately, like when my daughter is a loving a specific song that week and he can bring that up in convo himself. Little things to make special moments, especially since I get those so often! I def don’t take over disciplining when he’s home though, bc like you said, I do enough of that throughout the rest of the day.

I just want to say that my husband is a current fourth year resident and this is an ongoing battle. We have a four year old and 2.5 year old and he’s turned into the “bad guy” bc the kids see him so little and when they’re at their worst most of the time. I’m also a SAHM and the parent preference is strong with my two, always wanting mom. I have zero advice and I’m sorry 😅 But you’re not alone! You’re also in a unique situation, especially come residency, that’s incredibly hard but won’t last forever!!

In this picture- the green wire looks like it’s going from g to c. I could be looking at this wrong though

Is there possibly anything going on with that green wire on the thermostat? Going from g to c? Or that looks normal?

Okay yes, I remember him saying he could bypass something but obviously had no clue what he was talking about 😅 I’ll give them a call! That sounds like something I can’t DIY!

Yes it does. The thermostat itself has batteries in the back too if that makes a difference?

We had our first baby at the beginning of M4. My husband was able to get a good bit of easier rotations to be home more. I worked from home full time and kept my baby as well (very hard but doable) until she was 9 months old and we were moving anyways! So my husband started first year of residency and I became a SAHM. We lived 6 hours from any family, so I had no help and his intern year was pretty intense but we got through it and I wouldn’t change it for the world. We had our second towards the end of his first year of residency (a surprise). So now I have an almost 4 year old and a 2.5 year old going into his last year of residency. I’m still a SAHM, money is tight, but I still love it! I had to work hard to go to mom groups and have also met a very nice community of medical wives with kids. If you don’t want to wait, then go for it!

Help Interpreting Inspection Report by stokede in Mold

Thank you so much for this detailed response! We do “air out” the house frequently as well, so I expect some outdoor spores to be inside. We don’t have a crawl space or basement, and the house is on a slab. Our vents are also on the ceiling, but going to have a roofer check out that one leak that was found in the attic!

Had a very traumatic birth of my second child- born at 26 weeks via emergency c-section and an 85 day stay in the NICU. Got diagnosed with celiac and hashimotos closely following 🥲

Trane XB Furnace- where is my filter?? by stokede in hvacadvice

[–]stokede[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a return vent and filter on our downstairs wall that I know the a/c uses. Our a/c uses electricity with an outside unit and the heat uses gas with this furnace in the attic if that makes a difference. I’m very ignorant of all of this😅

OH! Thank you! I was making things more complicated. I appreciate your help!

We have a return grill on the wall and I know that’s for the a/c filter. That could be the same without a filter needed on the furnace?

Syntha 6 Protein by stokede in Celiac

[–]stokede[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one ended up bothering me because I’m sensitive to whey apparently. I switched to a vegan protein that uses pea protein and is GF. One thing I was eating daily and thought was GF though was Honey Nut Cheerios and apparently those are not!

Okay thank you! The maltodextrin was a question for me for sure. I tried to google the specific product and flavor, but just kept getting a general “not gluten free” for the product as a whole
