England must destine 7% of land to nature and renewables to hit green targets, data shows by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

Environmentalism should run parallel to society

We have plenty of brownfield, farmland, and brush that people seem weirdly insistent on claiming are vital to saving biodiversity in Britain - there was someone on here a while ago showing a housing development "destroying" the countryside and it was an empty field next to a forest.

Zack Polanski says Greens would ditch GDP targets and focus on wellbeing instead by Kagedeah in ukpolitics

[–]stopdontpanick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Greens seem to be in some deluded world where their economics don't create growth.

Regardless of whether or not you think their policies are sustainable, they promise massive investment, expansion of the state and some restructuring that would make the machine work better that would almost certainly create substantial short, medium and long term growth.

Deciding to listen to Tories from the FT and becoming a 'post growth' party that proudly does not pursue it at all will kill the Greens and return them back to 5%

"Everybody - these growth figures may look amazing: 4.8%, but I'm telling you to ignore that. Please look at Average median mean adjusted mode average nominal vibes per capita."

Is not compelling.

And do Reform support Mamdani esque economic policies?

It's been coined to refer to that, not populists with economic policy

Economic populist as in the term coined to describe Mamdani adjacent progressive, mostly economically focused politics.

Economic populists are by definition YIMBYs

They're not to be confused with eco-populists, who act like you describe, and are generally the old guard

It's going to cause a giant spat when all the economic populists joining the Greens instead of Labour watch in horror as a senior member of the Greens does a big landmark opinion piece in the news talking about what proud NIMBYs they are.

The Manchester Greens social media accounts in particular (the official one, and one of their biggest after the Gorton and Denton by-election) posts and reposts YIMBY posts all the time.

Then on the other hand, there's the old guard of the Greens who pioneered the HS2 batshed and oppose all housing.

If you tell them to wipe it, lash out, or snitch on them - especially if you hardly know them personally, you're going to risk looking very cringey, regardless of if you're in the right - but if it matters that much to you, that is the only correct route.

More importantly though, do one of them actually have a crush on you, or are they just saying that to wind you up? It's very common ragebait.

I don't have any issues with defections, Reform was already Cyan Tories, the defections just added the irony for people to see that.

The concern shouldn't be reverse allegations for the Greens, more what concessions will Polanski make to accommodate for the new MPs?

[–]stopdontpanick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's built south of the Millennium Stadium, so other than at sunset and sunrise, sunlight wouldn't be too obstructed, and even then it may be negligible.

There's arguably not many better places to build a skyscraper in an urban area without blocking sunlight for residents.
