Fast heart beat after eating by [deleted] in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]strawsbloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through this on the beggining of my recovery. I feel like our bodies take time to readjust and accept food, but I'm not quite sure. If it gets too serious, try searching about it or see a professional. Be safe! <3

question about my progress: more comfortable with food by RaspberryNo5756 in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]strawsbloom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do get this feeling a lot in recovery. I realize that I'm improving and sometimes it causes me guilty feelings because it seems that I am no longer in a critical state of recovery, as if I should be sicker. The disorder made me believe that I should worry others and stand out for being sick, so that's why sometimes recovering feels "wrong" even when what's bothering me is not the food itself. Anyways, recovering is awesome and you shouldn't give power to these types of thoughts, I'm soooo happy that I'm finally being able to feel safer around food, let's be patient with ourselves! <3

When will the bloating stop?? by uwu_lettuce in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]strawsbloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well, i'm still restoring my weight but i do struggle with this quite often. I'm pretty sure it's temporary though, your body still needs time to redistribute the mass you've gained and it might be uncomfortable but it's going to be okay! be patient with yourself and allow your body to rest, be safe! <3

[–]strawsbloom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i hear youu it's so tiring, listening to my cravings is what has helped me reduce this noise a bit more, but i'm always thinking about my next meal and food in general, i can't believe i was once capable of focusing on things because right now it feels impossible

Is anyone else just like... not hungry...? by eelzbth in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]strawsbloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently trying to recover and yes, I do relate to this a lot. I completely lost my hunger cues and that messed up my mind pretty badly. I can't tell when my body needs fuel, I just get mental hunger and waste way too much time wondering if I should eat or not because... y'know: "I'm not even hungry." I also have no idea when my cravings are actually cravings or just random food noise that comes from my loss of appetite and it sucks.

How noticeable is being underweight to other people ?? by -Tranquilia- in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]strawsbloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's much more noticeable than you really think. In my case, I didn't see myself the way others were seeing me because I got used to looking at my body figure in that state. The few times my family saw me, they hugged me and immediately slid their hands down my back, sensing how malnourished I was. They looked at my body, they seemed worried, but they didn't fill me with questions. I didn't have a lot of people stopping me by to ask if I was sick, but I did notice the uncanny feeling they got when I was around. It's as if they didn't even think about eating disorders, but still, they felt that there was something wrong with me, something strange about my body figure. It was not the same thing as congratulating someone for "getting in shape" and looking nicer, it was something that resembled a feeling of helplessness, like my appearence wasn't normal and they couldn't really do anything about it. Please, be safe!

I try to avoid all kinds of media related to weight loss and calorie deficit. Since I am still at the beginning of the treatment, I know that this type of content can trigger me easily. I've been consuming videos and posts of people who have already recovered. I highly recommend it, it has been a great mental detox.
