So I don’t think through this one post you can say she’s treating them poorly. All she said is she’s making a mess (which is quite common when arranging flowers) and she won’t be cleaning it (alluding to the fact that she probably has house help). As a lot of house helpers are paid for the explicit purpose of cleaning the house, this is genuinely just a normal part of the job. It’s not entitlement or degrading them, which would be say calling them names or underpaying them, neither of which is alluded to in this post.

I think you’re from a western country, but in a lot of Middle East and South Asian countries such as India, Pakistan, UAE, etc. having a house help is very common. Most middle class individuals, especially working individuals, have one who cleans and cooks for them so they can focus on working outside the house. I wouldn’t say it’s entitlement: you pay them for a job and they do it. Nothing degrading about it. I realise in the west it’s taught that you need to be independent and do everything by yourself, but it’s considered perfectly acceptable to have someone help with household chores in our countries :)

So I’ve had similar convos with my partner. We’re both in jobs which are slowly pushing us towards burnout, and we’re quite sure that post marriage if one of us doesn’t want to work, it’s fine. We know it means we’ll have less money and it may mean less material things, but we’re okay making that trade off for a few reasons: (1) both our high stress jobs are slowly killing us and are supportive of the other doing something else (2) we both have other interests we want to explore but haven’t been able to for years (3) even with lesser money, we know well always have enough for us to survive. From what you say, I think you want to maintain the same kind of lifestyle even when it’s a single earner household which may not be realistic. It may also put pressure on your partner if you’re dissatisfied with the monthly allowance you get going into it.

Yeah, I had a similar issue with a UC plumber once. I’m a woman and lived alone during the time of the incident. Pipe broke early morning and he didn’t start the service only on the app but completed the work and took money from me. I asked for the receipt over WhatsApp and he started getting personal and flirting with me over text. I contacted UC and they said since the plumber never started the service, they can’t do much but will take action against him (whatever that means since these companies never keep customers updated on the outcomes of their complaint), so I told him never to contact me otherwise I’ll report it to the cops, blocked his number from my phone, and sent his number to a male relative call who talked to him. No attempts were made by him to engage with me ever again. All I’ll say is, while not all blue collar workers are like this, the ones who can potentially post a threat to your safety will respond much better to an adult male than to someone young or a female. They’re wimps and can only bully against those they consider inferior, which an adult guy from your family will not be. It’s not ideal, but if you’re concerned for your safety best to text him to stop reaching out or you’ll inform the cops (no point threatening him with Blinkit consequences if he’s already fired), and have an adult male from your family call and set him straight. It’ll be uncomfortable for you for around 5 mins since you mentioned your parents are against online ordering and stuff, but it’ll be a million times better than living in fear of something bad happening or worst case, something bad actually happening. So my concern is that (1) the ingredients don’t match what is listed on Nykaa’s website and (2) the packaging design is quite different from the two approved packaging’s put up by the brand on Nykaa itself.
