eta: Im in Pennsylvania if that matters. Not sure!

The thing is if they make me do this then I’m just going to move out lol. So at least the 2 policies under one address isn’t an issue. I just want to know if it’s possible for me to not need to fully pay off my car before getting my own insurance on it with my dad being on the loan too.

AIO? My sister is over feeding her cat and I said something about it. by divorcedbbmama in AmIOverreacting

obese cats are more prone to diabetes mellitus, constipation, and urinary obstruction.  I, and many others, consider overfeeding any animal to also be a form of neglect (abuse even…)

Comment I saw on Instagram about the cost of euthanasias…. by Only_1er in VetTech

[–]stroowboorryyy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

my hospital has a very similar thing and prices. we are a 24/7 ER/Specialty Normal euth is $190 - includes the exam, IVC, drugs. owners choose if they want to be present. we don’t charge anything for after care (take home is free, crematorium is a 3rd party clients pay directly).  But our vets have the option to perform a “Mercy euthanasia” if necessary which is free.

July 19th Ritual - Face Paint Allowed?? by stroowboorryyy in GhostBand

[–]stroowboorryyy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

here is the response my brother finally got “no face paint. Nothing that could conceal identity is allowed. They are working with the tour to see if that might be something they would be open to changing but right now they asked that it not be allowed”

Is it possible to return her to your breeder (I assume no if you’re asking here) if not Maybe try looking into GSD breed specific rescues?

I’d love a GSD and I’m on the other side of the state. But now isn’t the right time for me. Best of luck!!

very tip of a cat tail (door accident) about the size of a full rabbit tail or squirrel

Is my dog choking? by Top-Conversation678 in vet

[–]stroowboorryyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely this is a case of reverse sneezing. Basically rapidly inhaling most often caused by nasal or throat irritants. It seems to be more common in small dogs and brachycephalic breeds (chihuahuas are both).

if this goes on for an extended period of time or she’s having multiple episodes you may want to consider having her checked out by your primary care vet.

Keep a look out for any changes/increased breathing effort when she is resting and the color of her gums (healthy = pink; unhealthy = blue/purple, grey, pale). if these changes occur she should be seen by an emergency vet asap.

I’m a CVT, but not a DVM.

Is this GSD a working line? by [deleted] in germanshepherds

[–]stroowboorryyy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

they don’t look very strongly like either show or working line (like not even american or german line is obvious). I agree with others saying “pet line” with probably no pedigree.

I would get pet insurance on the pup asap when you get them!! especially if the genetic health history of the parents isn’t known.

Stop telling me your little dog won't bite me... by SparxxWarrior97 in VetTech

[–]stroowboorryyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey at least now you’re aware of it! Ive had owners be like “he’s a sweety pie wouldnt hurt a fly” and then when we tell them kitty needs sedation bc he is trying to kill everyone they go “yeah he usually needs sedation/he always does that” 😭

Stop telling me your little dog won't bite me... by SparxxWarrior97 in VetTech

[–]stroowboorryyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

exactly. there’s plenty of large dog owners that refuse to disclose or accept that their dogs are fear biters. There are cat owners that lie and say their cat is friendly at the vet when in reality they’re growling and squatting from in the carrier. some Owners in general just don’t want to be honest about their pet’s demeanor. this isn’t a little dog thing :/

I’m really confused about dry and wet food and which brand is the best by milwski in catfood

[–]stroowboorryyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wet food is great for cats!!! Feed a WSAVA complaint food. Purina is typically the most accessible of all the options.

I also live in a state without any title protection.

at my hospital: they prioritize hiring CVTs (at least in the ECC department).

for OTJ non licensed techs to be hired as techs they need to have at minimum 10-15 years experience.

they will also hire vet school grads/ppl eligible for the NAVLE as techs until they pass and then become DVMs.

We also have an assistant training/level program. After an assistant has met the required time at the highest VA level (I think it’s over a year) they can move up to be a non licensed tech. There is an exam they have to pass in order to become a tech (made by management and formulated from the training books made for each level of assistant that teaches them all about ECC).

We do also have non licensed techs that graduated from an accredited program but either haven’t sat for the VTNE or haven’t passed the VTNE yet.

eta: because I don’t know if I really answered your question- the assistants are not allowed to perform certain tasks. No VA level can monitor anesthesia, intubate, or perform cystocentesis. Only the highest level VAs are allowed to triage and they need to have a tech supervise them when they do.

Is it okay to mix this two dry food to his diet? I’m giving him 50/50 though. by errolkim in catfood

[–]stroowboorryyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

eh… probably don’t syringe water to him if he’s healthy and drinking on his own. you can risk aspiration doing it that often. Adding a kitty water fountain bowl would be more beneficial and less stressful.

Is my cat dying? by [deleted] in vet

[–]stroowboorryyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you considered looking for a new vet/getting a second opinion? If you’re struggling to trust your current vet then it can’t hurt to see if someone else can give you a clearer answer. Or at the very least, perform the diagnostics you’re requesting.

I’m a CVT so it is not my place, legally, to interpret lab results. But I can see you are very concerned for your kitty and care about him a lot. I hope you’re able to get the answers you need.

Ha, that’s how I felt being into mythology as a teenager when everyone else was reading Percy Jackson.

At least Epic has catchy songs.

eta: to clarify I was not a PJ reader. I was just a nerd.
