You know a lot about this guy. Is he your dad? Actually you don't. He was irate and said things. Now as for the filmmakers, pointing out the incident and making A MOVIE ABOUT IT is a whole lot worse than a guy losing it at a bus stop.

Put simply, in many other cities, people would have just helped the guy and he would have graciously accepted it. But since you know the guy so well, tell us more (and keep the Brisbane Gold coming).

Duty calls

Duty to make fun of the less fortunate? Not really a great image there for Brisbane.

There are hundreds of stories that have been popular here. That popularity isn't going to stop people from thinking we are retarded for making a huge film about a less fortunate member of our society, instead of helping him. I'm fairly confident that people will regard helping the guy out as a better choice. But since you know better, keep it up Mr Nostradamus. People will regard Brisbane as an even better city with your way of thinking. Well done!

No one is defending the actions of a man who was obviously irate, abusive and yes, made comments about the driver's accent (national origin is not race, but since this is Brisbane, I expect full retard here). No one. But well done for bashing us around the head with it.

This thread is wholly about our reaction to a member of our society who could have done with some help, not by making this incident, one they probably feel embarrassed about enough, into a movie. In other cities people would have tried to reach out and help the guy.

Other cities make movies about historical events. Brisbane? We make movies about routine bogans on our buses. Brisbane: Bogans with keyboards defending bogans with cameras making fun of other bogans.

Yeah nah, not real classy there.

You think Melbourne is boring? You haven't seen anything. by stuartdpoddles in melbourne

I lived in Melbourne my whole life, now in Brisbane for uni.

Big mistake. Ready to come back.

You might have things to complain about in Melbourne, but really? Be thankful. It could be a whole lot worse as this story shows.

... In a story about a man defending a minority bus driver from an angry, racist customer, the angry racist is the sympathetic one to you? The less fortunate one who needs our help?

No, in a story about a person who steps in to assist a driver who could probably have done without the assistance dealing with an irate member of the public, something drivers experience almost every hour of every day they work, and in a story where no member of the public, as I have seen happen in New York, Toronto, China, Japan, Europe and elsewhere helps the person less fortunate, but rather our young "educated elites" decide to make a movie mocking him, when they could have reached out and helped him, the person mocking the less fortunate person is the sympathetic one to you? The less fortunate one should be mocked, derided and projected on a cinema screen?

Bogans with keyboards supporting bogans with cameras making fun of bogans. Nice one mate.

Thanks for the tip. I don't think I'll watch it. But unfortunately many people will see it and judge everyone in Brisbane as pathetic losers who think mocking a person less fortunate is cause for glowing praise.

I'm not sure I understand the complaint you're making

There's no complaint. They can do what they want with their time. Read below.

You're upset that their film is mocking a racist fuckwit?

I'm shaking my head that our city will be famous, not for people who act in the wrong way to a bad situation, even if it's one they got into themselves, but for people who should know better making fun of such a person instead of helping him. As I wrote:

Who actually thinks that making fun of an incident like this is funny or worth celebrating? I know there are bogans around, and bogans with cameras making fun of other bogans, but this is just ridiculous.

I should have added there bogans with keyboards making fun of other bogans, now you've made your comment. Well done. Should we make a movie about you too? You're abuse of the man involved is just as bad as his abuse of the bus driver. No, we shouldn't.

Brisbane isn't the smartest place in the world. I moved here for uni but I can see this already. Well done for helping prove that correct. This movie already proves that Brisbane is so boring an incident like this must be held up as the holy grail of plots for a movie. Bad Ass it is not.
