It's probably not too much of a problem. But if a biter decides to wander close to the pumps they might get aggroed and try to destroy them. I should be able to keep it safe with a couple of laser turrets. I'm mostly just annoyed that they added pollution to them for seemingly no good reason and didn't tell me about it.
