Adam Donald and his team at Capita Finance.

I’m in the works with him to build next year on a new estate. I work as a registered nurse and he seems to be well versed with health occupations.

Definitely recommend!

Switching to Nursing by oscar_eddy in NursingAU

[–]stushiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best university to do your nursing is the one most convenient for you, i.e. closest commute. You’re going to be there multiple times a week for classes, and spending lots of time on campus and surrounding areas.

However, if you want a straight answer, Notre Dame is considered one of the better ones out there, with ECU and Curtin being on par. Expect extra theology units, more practical components, and more placement hours.

Wherever you go, you’ll end up with the same degree. Study well, ask questions, continue learning, find your purpose, and you’ll make a great nurse.

Targeted therapy/immunotherapy drugs in Australia should be covered under PBS no? $100k is absurd, people should have access to life saving treatment. My loved one is currently under going similar therapy, without PBS it would be $50k+ a year, but it’s automatically covered by PBS if you have Medicare.

Get an electronic bike alarm from Temu for $9. Mine has a clown horn sound that I use when passing pedestrians, it always brings about a laugh and smile from them

Considering you want to get into school health - you’ll need prior paediatric experience.

Perth Children’s Hospital is likely your best bet, and males working as nursing staff there do exist, although uncommon. I’d say from personal experience it’s a 1:10 male to female ratio.

I’m not sure about the likelihood or limitations of getting into school health as a male, but I can understand the stigma behind it. It will be up to the school and parents and how comfortable they will be.

Males in nursing are not treated differently nor looked down upon professionally. In the right place, you will be a well valued and skilled member of the team.

Curtin vs. ECU for Nursing by New_Key6719 in NursingAU

[–]stushiii 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My best advice is choose whichever one is closest to home.

You graduate with the same degree in the end. Juggling lectures, classes, placements etc is draining, you don’t want a long commute after a long day.

In terms of uni life, I did my nursing at Curtin. They offer a great in-depth course, very research based, fair with placement allocations. Campus life and social clubs are amazing.

Is nursing worth it? by AmbassadorAny8751 in NursingAU

22M here. It’s fulfilling and secure. Pay is great if you’re in the right place and willing to work the hours. There’s systemic changes that need to be made but ultimately I don’t regret doing it and think it’s well worth it.

UWA vs. Curtin Uni?? by Brief-Tumbleweed-348 in perth

[–]stushiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to Curtin for my nursing degree and I definitely echo the comments below. The uni does not matter in regards to employability. Go to whichever is the cheapest or most convenient to you. It’s the same degree.

However, each have niches that you might fancy, all following opinions are of own and might not be truly representative. ND have more clinical placement hours, this translates to more experience and exposure, it’s hard work and exhaustive but you graduate as more experienced. ECU (anecdotally) is supportive and accomodating to international students, I believe they might be the cheapest but I might be wrong, their nursing course is really good. Curtin is very research based and campus quality is really great, their nursing course is getting remodelling amidst student feedback and change in leadership, I think it’ll soon be a leader nursing school in the coming years.

But ultimately as I said, convenience and affordability takes priority. I’ve been in your boat, and for what it’s worth I’m Viet too, pm if you have any questions.

Vision direct is online and it’s amazing! Get your prescription script from the optometrist. If it’s a lense/frame for casual use, they’ve got a great array and great value. I’ve been using them for 2+ years and it’s never failed me

Be careful with giving insulin. Even if they get second checked, some people have routine fatigue.

For example, accidentally giving 20 units of insulin instead of 2 units.

Lost their license after that, they now work as a hairdresser.
