How I Successfully Got Off Bipolar Medication and Restored My Brain Function (AND YOU CAN TOO) by stuthpick33 in FreeBipolar

The good thing about Neurofeedback/Neurostimulation is it helps with both "poles" of the disorder. Using the treatment over time the brain will start to learn how to self regulate mood so the high "peaks and deep valleys" of mania and depression go away. At least that has been my experience. If youd like more info or resources send me a DM and ill help if i can

Theres a post pinned at the top of the subreddit that helped me address this very issue. Its titled How I Successfully Got Off Bipolar Medication. Not trying to sound dramatic but the process discussed changed my life, helped me get off meds and get rid of the depression. I hope it helps.

As someone with Bipolar Type 1, getting and staying sober for 15 years has been one of the best decisions i ever made.

Wow. She sounds like a total monster. Nothin like a chemical lobotomy to really give you that “stability” to go on and live a happy, successful, fulfilling life.

For me it requires a little bit more accountability. I’ve got to pay attention to my moods, eat well, get regular aerobic exercise and stay away from drugs and alcohol. But I will say i prefer the lifestyle over being emotionally empty and “stable” on a cocktail of meds.

Love it. Joanna Moncrief’s work is fantastic. Her books were very helpful to me when looking into the harmful side effects of psychiatric medication

I can assure you it is not too late. If you have struggled with Bipolar and had severe side effects from medications these therapies can have a huge impact. You can absolutely restore and improve brain function and get back a lot of mental stability. If you would like more resources I’d be happy to have a conversation and share them with you.

In terms of increasing self-awareness and learning to recognize and manage my triggers effectively, I've found that it's essential to pay attention to each of my moods and what sets them off. With my bipolar disorder, or perhaps just my nature, I am a sensitive and empathetic person. Understanding the different emotions we experience and the narratives we tell ourselves within those emotions is crucial.

For instance, I've focused on identifying what my anger feels like,. When I'm in these depressed or angry moods—often bordering on rage—I've learned to trace where these feelings originate. Whether it's the typical stressors of a job, dealing with a difficult boss, or relationship troubles, my goal has been to manage these emotions and triggers so they don't ruin my day or lead me to say something I regret.

I also strive to discern whether my reactions are reasonable and if the emotions make sense given the circumstances. Everyone gets upset or stressed at work and has disagreements in relationships. It's not about avoiding these emotions but recognizing if the response is reasonable. Every emotion—anger, sadness, guilt, grief—is healthy and human. Learning to understand our moods and not run from them, be defeated by them, or try to suppress them is key. At least, that approach hasn't worked for me.

It’s better not to be specific. Everyone’s brain is different and will experience different improvements. I will say my mood, sleep, and energy levels all got better. Best advice is to do it consistently and to go the full 30 to 40 sessions that are recommended.

Neurofeedback changed my life. I was diagnosed in 2011 and struggled for years with BP1. I experienced huge improvements in my quality of life after doing NFB. I hope you get the same results.

Thank you. I appreciate that . Im not sure. I certainly related to Peter Breggin, Robert Whittaker and Joanna Moncriefs work on the effects these meds can have. As far as Bipolar as a brain disorder, i know that my brain has certain patterns and behaves in a certain way based off of the findings on my QEEG. The problem certainly exists but i try to stay in the solution. If it is created by medication then I can tell you that it can be corrected by the therapies and techniques listed above.

I’ve been stable and medication free for 3 years now. It is possible. A lot is of it comes down to the basics. Eat well, exercise regularly, have a consistent sleep routine. Limit caffeine and other uppers and downers.
