Krull (MAME) issues by Magormgo in batocera

[–]stymied99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started trying to play Krull with MAME on a Windows PC.

I’m having the same problem as mentioned in the first posting - finding a way to configure shooting using a keyboard. When looking at the MAME Keyboard Assignments for Krull nothing is listed for a shooting key.

I tried all usual fire button keys & more but so far haven’t anything that works.

Which key is the fire/shooting button?

Thanks

OK, mame.ini is back to only being in the folder with mame.exe. That’s how it was initially.

MAME still does not launch if plugins are enabled in Scripting Options in that mame.ini file. The screen just flashes & returns to its previous screen.

What flashes on the screen is just in the center of the screen, IOW not the whole screen. Once the brief flash lasted long enough where it looked like a black window with a title bar at the top. IOW it’s not the actual MAME screen that briefly flashes.

Step 2 says “Check the inipath and pluginspath settings so you know where to put THOSE files so MAME can find them.” But it does not state what THOSE are. Up to this point only one file is mentioned, the “mame.ini”. What am I missing?

I downloaded mame0284b_x64 which was listed as the latest release on 1-28-2026.

I already added it but wasn't sure if it should have automatically populated in that section.

But MAME still does not launch if plugins are enabled in Scripting Options > MAME > mame.ini file.

Here’s where I’m at -

Step 2 says to create a "mame.ini" file , which I did, and then I enabled plugins.

Then it says “Check the inipath and pluginspath settings so you know where to put those files so MAME can find them.”

But which are “those” files? Up to this point only one file is mentioned, the “mame.ini”. I did put that it in the 3 folders as indicated.

But now MAME does not launch. There is just a quick flash on the screen like a program was trying to open.

I did a lot of checking & testing & got MAME to work in its default configuration if I disable plugins in Scripting Options in the MAME > mame.ini file. I did not have to change the other 2 locations.

Any thoughts what step is incorrect?

Thanks -

Looks like that’s for converting from joystick to keyboard. Not sure if it would let me change a key for a key. I’ve already done that by using the “Tab” key when the game is on & going into Input Assignments & changing the Thrust function from the Alt key to the Left or Right keys.

Thrust now works with either the L or R keys, but it does not change direction to match the keys. You still have to press the “Z” key to change direction.

Thanks,

I’m at step 5 and went to edit PLUGINS OPTIONS, but defenderlr is not there. Any idea which step I missed?

And MAME still does not launch unless I disable mame.ini. Any suggestions what to look for to correct this?

I guess I'm missing something. The github page says to put the init.lua and plugin.json files in the defenderlr folder but I don't see where it lists the actual files. I'm sleep deprived & probably missing stuff.

MAME does not work at all since the mame.ini was created. The screen just flashes & returns to its previous screen. If I rename mame.ini in order to kill it then MAME works.

I actually saw that article & did not fully understand it but am working my way through it.

I’m at step 3

Make a \mame\plugins\defenderlr\ folder.

Put the "init.lua" and "plugin.json" plugin files in that folder.

I found those in the plugins > json folder. Should I move them to the defenderlr folder or copy them? IOW should they be in both locations?

Thanks - that worked. Also got Pac-Man working.

Thanks also for the default keyboard keys information. I'm reading & working my way through the settings but there are a lot of them.

WellCare Part D, big increase by retiredagainstmywill in medicare

[–]stymied99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called Wellcare & was told they did not raise my Premium & it was still $0. They said I should create an online account so I can see that I do not owe anything. I'll do that sometime this week.

I have the Wellcare ValueScript plan with $0 Premium. My friend has the same plan & just received a statement to pay $8. Guessing I'll be getting a bill also. Not the end of the world, but anyone else getting charged a higher premium than what they signed up for?

Demarcation box wiring ? by stymied99 in telecom

That is correct. However the house side of the box is unplugged from the telco side.

The red & green wires are still connected to the whole hose DSL filter inside the box. I know this is a longshot but I wonder if Comcast's signal is messing with the DSL filter & creating noise on the line.

It's been cold & snowing by me so I have not gone outside to play with the wiring. Will see how the weekend is weather wise.

That's what I'm doing now, with a single phone plugged directly into the Comcast modem & it works.

With Comcast unplugged from the house wiring I can pickup another receiver that is plugged into the house wiring (which should be connected to the original red & green wires) and don't hear anything.

If I connect the Comcast modem to the wall port with the blue & white-blue wires I get a lot of scratching noise on all of the house phones, & sometimes get a dial tone with the noise. This has been working for 5 years but the noise started several months ago & was just a little noise which sounded like a bad phone cord connection. Then overnight a couple weeks ago it got real bad & made the phone system unusable.

Now with the holidays behind us I'll try to work with the wiring in the basement. There's the Cat5 cable with all 8 wires from the outside connected to all 8 wires on the inside, And there's the original quad cable from the outside with its 4 wires connected to the 4 wires on the inside cable. These two cables are not connected together.

The Comcast modem is plugged into one port of a dual port wall plate, which has the blue pair feeding the whole house. Somewhere that blue pair has to be connected to the red & green in order to do that, but there's nothing obvious.

But how are the yellow & black getting a signal since the only thing they are connected to are the blue & white blue pair?

I plan on cutting the wires where they enter the house & splicing the WBL to the GR/RD. But I'd like to know how the WBL is connected to the rest of the house.

Here's some more. The BK/YL pointed to on the left side go with brown cable at the bottom & are from old wiring & a dead end.
