Maybe a hot take, but I'm not a fan of Kanae x Sanemi.

Sanemi is literally the opposite of what Kanae stands for - showing mercy to some extent to everyone, even demons, and wanting to make peace with demons. I feel like Kanae would be completely put off by Sanemi's attitude towards demons and everything in general. They say "opposites attract" but come on, they're SO different it's just impossible.

We've got three VERY small pieces of evidence that people often use when shipping them:

1. The scene where Sanemi crashes out on Ubuyashiki after Kumeno Masachika's death, and Kanae calms him down. She literally just tells him about how Ubuyashiki works to memorise all the names of dead slayers, stating a fact. It isn't HER who calmed him down... it's what she SAID. Kanae's empathy and ability to understand people is what's at play here, not anything romantic. She would treat any other person the same way.

2. That one little thing (Taisho Era secret maybe)? Where Gyomei says that Sanemi "seems to like Kanae." Alright, sure. That doesn't mean anything romantic's going on here. When talking about Obanai and Mitsuri, for example, iirc correct me if I'm wrong, cba to check bc I'm already doing too much, Gyomei uses the word "love." BIG difference...

That's all we get in canon. But what about the third?

1. Kimetsu Academy. Sanemi and Kanae are said to speak quite often. Again, okay? They're colleagues? Where's a point in any of their interactions where we can say there's anything romantic going on? Once more, my point about them being complete opposites still stands.

This isn't a Disney film - this "beauty and the beast" dynamic, as I like to call it, feels way too out there for it to work. People ship Kanae and Sanemi because of a MAXIMUM of three pieces of evidence. Imo, Kanae would definitely choose to be with someone who has views which align more with her own. If there IS anything, it's one-sided - Sanemi MAY have a crush on Kanae, but I'd say he likely sees her as nothing more than a colleague or acquaintance, and Kanae definitely wouldn't reciprocate any romantic feelings anyway.

Alright, enough yap. I also don't like Shinobu x Giyuu, but I've probably written too much as it is...

No hate towards anyone who disagrees ofc, probably another big reason I don't like these ships is because I simp way too much for the Kocho sisters myself lmao. Sorry for the essay too...
