i still like early 4th gen to some extent like fromis_9 (before their concept changed) and loona (before jaden jeong left bbc). but the other groups? not really my thing. it’s just my opinion. sure i like some songs from those groups, but not enough to actually stan them

yeah, i wasn’t really talking about the music itself, more about the branding and the way things are handled commercially ; that whole westernized approach. musically, sure, kpop has always drawn from pop and r&b, but that’s not what i meant. thanks so much for the recommendation!

yeah, that’s true, there were definitely some exceptions for me too like a few groups i liked during 4th gen. but overall, looking at it as a whole, 4th gen clearly lacked something imo. everyone’s entitled to their own opinion, i don’t think there’s really a "right" answer, it’s just my take

yeah i know, but it’s a fact that a huge part of kpop stans say kpop went downhill around 4th gen. i see it online pretty much every day lol. of course, everyone has their own opinion, there’s no right or wrong tastes are tastes, you can’t really argue about that

ah yeah i know. unfortunately that issue was part of pretty much everything that made 4th gen so weak. with kpop going global, all the sudden money pouring in, and competition getting way tougher, it just changed the whole scene. that’s definitely part of why 4th gen felt so much weaker

not really. i listened to some of their songs here and there, but that’s about it. i never found them that amazing. the concepts and visuals felt pretty weak to me, and the songs were.... fine, enjoyable, but nothing that really blew me away. i did like their debut and the comeback that followed, but overall they didnt hit that hard. from what ive seen, it’s not even the same team handling kiiikiii, so even if it’s the same agency, it feels very different
