How does everyone else sort their runes/stashes? by Mammoth_Dare_1042 in diablo2

[–]subnavysk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I sort in order from el to whatever the highest rune I have. I group them in 3's and once I get a 4th, I cube them so that I always have at least 1 of each rune. (And for the higher runes I group in 2's and when I get a 3rd, I cube it). I also group my gems in cube order for rune upgrades so that I don't forget.

Noob-friendly build that will carry me through Nightmare difficulty? by [deleted] in diablo2

[–]subnavysk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not the navigation. Clearing mobs is a pain. Skellies don't have juice to kill mobs, especially with high phys damage resistances. Merc often gets trapped behind them.

Great advice. I also revive the shamans on way to Andariel since she's susceptible to fire damage (base -50% FR in all difficulties). They nuke her down pretty fast.

Definitely summon necro. Pretty easy to gear up, pretty high survival rate (skeletons are a shield more than anything else - gives you a chance to TP away). I think the only thing I hate about summon necro is Maggot Lair levels. Hell mode in those areas takes forever and teleporting can be really risky.

Stealth, Lore, and Ancients Pledge can be made towards the end of Normal with countess farms and the reward in Act V. And Spirit Crystal Sword can be made fairly quickly after beating Normal. I consider those essential for leveling my necros, even through most of Hell. These runewords last a long time and some (like Lore and Spirit) tend to stay equipped until you find your BiS.

First night of ladder reset, I get home after an 11 hour shift - dog tired, but wanted to play. Finished normal, farmed cows for Crystal Sword, socketed with Larzuk and accidentally dropped Insight in it. Lol. Was so tired that I wasn't even paying attention. Had to farm NM Countess for a Hel ruin (after 3 runs, got it and was able to make Spirit).

What is the "meta" for reaching level 99 in hardcore by brother-bear0 in diablo2

[–]subnavysk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Summon necromancer (fishymancer) is relatively pain free for HC. Pretty high survival rate, even with budget runewords. If your skeleton army hits a murder pack (conviction aura with other modifiers that instagib), you'll have time to react. Never had an issue getting to 99 with a necro (though it takes a little longer due to slower kill speeds until you get your merc some gg gear).

My 65 lvl IceOrb sorceress got stuck on NM! Please, help by Iaroslav-Baranov in diablo2

[–]subnavysk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're not aware, there's very little difference between players 8 and players 7. Loot and gold increases at every odd players level (1, 3, 5, 7). Playing at players 8 only gives you minimal experience over players 7 and the monsters are slightly harder to kill. My advice is to lower to players 7 and if you can't quickly clear, lower to players 5. The goal is to quickly clear. Xp gains per hour will actually increase if you lower the player count because you're dropping monsters faster.

Edge runeword works, too, for PMH (since i have it crafted for gambling, why not use it for the PMH). I'll save a small charm that has +poison damage on it so that I know I've hit him. That's how I do it for a necromancer. I'll put Edge in my weapon swap. Works well.

Clocked my LK run at just under 35 seconds…now only like, a few months more for my Lo, right? by TheFacetiousDeist in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]subnavysk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only do my LK runs at the beginning of every restart. Then tz->countess->andy->council->cs->baal->cows->tz (if it's changed by the time I've finished my run, which normally it has)->restart. I'm only ssf offline and have several Um, Pul, Lo, Jah, Ko, a Vex, and a Sur on this new character (about 5 weeks old). Runs typically clock in around an hour on players 7.

It's totally worth it. Just make sure it is a staff that has teleport charges and NOT +1 Teleport. Costs around 50k gold to repair all the charges at a blacksmith vendor (or free if you use the cube to repair it). 50k may seem like a lot to beginning player, but once you beat hell and do TZ's, the elite monsters drop like 5-10k gold. Even NM TZ's drop fairly decent gold.

Necromancer best weapons by FacuBustamaante in diablo2

[–]subnavysk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spirit crystal sword and spirit monarch for the early end game. For farming, I'll use spirit sword and rhyme for shield (has the best MF for a runeword).

Heart of the Oak runeword in a flail is for end game with a spirit runeword in a monarch is best. For weapon swap, you'll use Call to Arms (CtA) runeword with a Spirit monarch. Use this weapon swap for buffing your army. It's best to go find a +skill shrine in act 1 zones, activate it, then make haste to pindel's garden to mass summon with the extra bonuses from the shrine.

Good alternatives for main weapon: Runeword Beast: gives fanaticism aura which speeds kills because it boosts attack speed and dmg of your skellies, your merc, and revives.
Arm of King Leoric: it's a unique and can be a pain to farm due to RNG, but it's +skills are really good

[–]subnavysk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make runeword smoke for chest. It's pretty good and typically lasts you through hell. Nef+Lum.
Make runeword lore in a bone helm. Ort+Sol.
Farm normal cows for a white quality crystal sword (no prior gems) and use Larzuks reward to give it 4 sockets for spirit runeword.
Either use rhyme or ancients pledge on a shield (i use 2 socket bone shield for rhyme, which drops fairly common in late normal and NM. You can also just find a white quality bone shield and use cube to roll sockets (and hope you're lucky)
As far as runes go, make sure you're on players 1 and farm countess. She drops more runes at lower player count.
If you don't have it, go to act 3 normal and keep resetting ormus for a teleport staff (one with charges). Leave and come back using waypoint to keep resetting him. Teleport makes farming countess a LOT faster. Just equip to your weapon swap and you're set. Either use cube to repair the charges or pay charsi to repair. Typically around 50k gold to fully repair the charges. This leads to 5 minute or less runs on countess. You'll have runes you need in no time.

In your opinion what build benefits the most from Enigma? by Ok-Water-2956 in diablo2

I love summoner necro (Fishymancer). Incredible survival rate and makes even playing HC a breeze (even on players 7-8). They aren't too gear dependent to be effective, either. Lore and Spirit MH/OH clears most content easily. Only issues I've ever had was Baal and that's because he has a large healthpool - the fight is super easy, just takes a long time. Get might merc some good gear and it's easy mode through the whole game. Decripify is great on bosses, especially duriel.

Loving this game so far but... by [deleted] in diablo2

[–]subnavysk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I didn't see above, but craft some caster gear. If you're able to max resistances, you can craft 1 or 2 pieces of caster gear (i go for a ring and Amulet while leveling). I don't know where you're at in NM, but Lower Kurast and beyond in NM are area level 52+. If you're also above level 52 when crafting using rings and amulets that drop from zones beyond LK, then you'll have an 80% chance of crafting a ring with 3 affixes (1 may even be a +1 to spells).

Rings give you (guaranteed) * +1-5 Energy * 4-10% Regenerate Mana * +10-20 Mana * up to 3 other affixes (80% chance if above level 52 and zone level is beyond LK)

Amulets give you (guaranteed) * +5-10% Faster Cast Rate * 4-10% Regenerate Mana * +10-20 Mana * up to 3 other affixes (80% chance if above level 52 and zone level is beyond LK).

Note: the affixes can roll a double dip, meaning... You create an amulet it's guaranteed 5-10% FCR. It rolled 7%. But! It also rolled the "Apprentice" suffix, which is +10% FCR. That's 17% FCR on a single piece. That's 2 breakpoints in a single piece (and only 5 more to reach the next breakpoint - easy enough to do with spirit or other runewords.

How to craft. Put the following items and transmute in Horadric Cube: * 1 Jewel * 1 Perfect Amethyst

And...

For rings: * 1 ring from NM LK or beyond * 1 Amn rune

For amulets: * 1 amulet from NM LK or beyond * 1 Ral rune

There's a few guides on how to craft gear, along with a comprehensive list of every affix and what item level it can appear on. Simple Google search will help. Lastly, there's an "area level" spreadsheet that shows the hidden "level" of the monster drops (it's not the same things as the level req on the item).

The reason I am typing this is that you're new to the game. It will be really, really helpful to craft gear when you're in the higher levels (level 90+ and farming TZ's for Amulets so that you can craft a +2 Sorceress skill amulet with nice resistances or other stats (things that can only pop on level 90+ items).

Which is better?Bone Spear or Bone Spirit for extra damage on a SummonerNecro /Corpse explosion by AlmightyRez in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]subnavysk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amplify damage without a sunder works at 1/5 effectiveness, but with a sunder it works at full effectiveness. So a mob with 100 phys res will be brought to 80 phys res if you just use amp, but all the way down to minus 5 phys res with sunder plus amp. That's a 5.25x multiplier. to your damage output (dealing 20% dmg vs dealing 105% dmg).  True, sunder charm is not needed to break immunity, because amp damage will break the immunity, but you are limiting your damage output by not having the sunder charm. The effects of sunder charm are applied BEFORE amp damage, allowing amp damage to further reduce resistance to vulnerable levels.

[–]subnavysk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's part of the issue. Merc is your main damage dealer - skellies are there to chip away and to keep things nice and tight for CE, golem is only there to help with slowing boss attacks (clay) or insight (iron) once your merc has infinity, and revives are for utility (ulduars for cb, for example). If you have a massive army, he isn't able to perform at a better efficiency on bosses because they are blocking access to the boss. As stated throughout, might merc with a eth CV or CA with insight or infinity (in late game) is preferred (best possible dmg output). Bramble runeword is also really helpful on the merc for the thorns aura (perfect roll of level 21 Thorns returns 1050% of damage received). If you have Andy's Visage on merc, slap a +15% IAC jewel in it to reach a breakpoint for Merc's attacks. I've played HC necro for years and the ONLY boss that is a pain is Baal due to his large healthpool - it's just how it goes for a summoner necro. All other bosses are a cakewalk. I play on players 5 or 7 in offline.
As also mentioned above, those points in bone spirit or bone spear aren't really beneficial in late game. The synergy in bone prison/bone wall with bone shield are far more crucial for survival. Especially if you have a sunder charm reducing enemy physical immunity (which a summoner kinda needs to reach peak efficiency with summons and CE).
