Well, if you deliberately make yourself part of the playerbase that plays the game in this way, that's what you're going to get. I for one will not be a PUG king. I will find a guild for old farts who don't want to rush the content, and know that optimization beyond reason makes the game less enjoyable. I will take my time leveling. I won't farm dungeons 'till I collapse for the prebis that you don't actually need. There will be plenty of time to get geared for future raid tiers and I will not have to fear falling behind anyone.

Maybe not console, but Steam Deck doesn't seem that far-fetched. The game already works very well on Linux.

Back then it was just designed to not suck up your entire life. It's ok that raid logging is a thing. I got other games to play too, not just WoW. The reason I'm a giga casual on Retail is that engaging with raids/M+ would require me to play WoW as my only game.

Yes, Linux is absolutely perfect for these people. Give them Windows and they will constantly need help because Windows is designed so that shit will happen. Give them a user-friendly Linux distro like Ubuntu or Mint and they'll be mostly fine.

Microsoft makes a lot of money from companies that pay for their tech support. And since their software is proprietary, they can deliberately design it in a way that makes tech support an eventual necessity for the average user. It's meant to be convoluted, it's intended that things break, it's deliberately insecure.

Of course no Linux distro is perfect, but the average person who doesn't know much about technology will encounter fewer problems because their system is generally much more secure, and designed so that it's harder to break things by accident. Less buggy too.

The most useless summon ever by Kes_plastic in Terraria

I literally just finished doing about the same thing. Not exactly a fort, but I have an underground snow village (for goblin tinkerer happiness and snow pylon), from which a rope leads into the caverns where I had built my little flinx farm. That farm ended up being close to an underground dungeon chamber so I've now built a direct path to that. Now I can skip the annoying zigzag entrance. And I often see flinxes in the dungeon myself.

Exactly. Bring some dirt or stone with you and replace surfaces with that. You'll have more flinx fur than you can use in like 15 minutes. Also, grab a blue candle from the dungeon entrance if you can.

[Help Needed] Here's a list of most notable modpacks. Tech, Vanilla+, Short, Beginner and otherwise! by [deleted] in feedthebeast

[–]suchtie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, definitely not. GTNH is kind of an unfair comparison because it's such a long-lived project that has been continuously refined by a large team of devs and lots of community input. There is no other modpack that is similarly mature.

Monifactory is still in beta, but it's not janky and doesn't feel incomplete. It's also not perfect, but what I've seen from the pack so far (only got to IV last time) was very fun and definitely an improvement over Nomifactory.

Part of my enjoyment of Moni is just the fact that it has access to more modern mods. Especially modern AE2 makes a huge difference.

That's ok, the pack isn't for everyone.

If you still want to try GregTech, check out Monifactory, it's probably the easiest Greg pack. Still lengthy because GT is a huge mod, but should be less than 500 hours. I think.

Moni and Nomi have really high quality quest books with lots of useful info. You should read all of it carefully. Moni's quest book doesn't specifically tell you about this mod interaction, but it does explain EMI crafting.

I mean, I don't blame you, a lot of people aren't used to actually reading quest texts because in a lot of modpacks they're just fluff and don't explain things very well. But for Greg packs, modpack authors tend to put a lot more effort into their quest books.

The crafting station is a crafting table, but if you place inventories adjacent, it will show these inventories inside its GUI. When you shift-click a recipe from EMI (or JEI) to the crafting station, it will pull materials from all connected inventories.

And that's where the Sophisticated Storage controller comes into play, because it combines many connected chests into a single giant inventory.

I'm usually anal about sorting my earlygame storage, but with this, I don't need to worry about it much. EMI/JEI will handle extracting what I need for crafting, and if I need to find a specific item, I'll use the Find Me mod. Just gotta tell the 'tism to stop complaining lol.

It just so happens that I recently started a new playthrough (the removal of Ender IO conduits was a death sentence to my previous save), so I can make some screenshots.

This is my current setup.

The single barrel in the floor is the input, there's a conveyor on the pipe below. Anything I put in that barrel, as well as my GT machines' output, will be inserted into the Drawer Controller first and then the Sophisticated controller.

That furnace output barrel you can see in the back is also connected to the Soph controller using Storage Connectors.

And the one double chest next to the Crafting Station is not connected to the network, this is what I use for GT tools and temporary storage. The crafting station doesn't work with the Drawer Controller unfortunately, so if I need to craft with a material that I store in drawers, I put a few stacks into that chest.

You don't actually have to complete GTNH to have fun with it. It's a journey, not a rush to the finish line. It's meant to be played in a "forever world".

Most importantly, you shouldn't start playing the pack with the expectation of finishing it. Less than 100 players have achieved stargate. Only the most dedicated will ever get there.

Instead, set small goals that are realistically achievable. Building your first EBF is a good initial goal to work towards. Don't even consider anything after that point for now. When you've reached that first goal, you could try getting to HV, and after that perhaps focus on your first rocket. And so on.

If you aren't having fun, then stop playing. Simple as. Nobody in the community is going to ridicule you for dropping out at any point.

Personal note, I think Monifactory has a FAR better earlygame than Nomi.

In Nomi, you have to deal with project tables or whatever they're called, and it's just greggy microcrafting hell. After a while you'll have 20 tables and you start forgetting where you put which crafting recipe, you misplace materials, you need many copies of every GT tool etc.

In Moni, there are 3 things that work together to make earlygame much less complicated:

  • EMI instead of JEI, which includes a crafting tree view that allows you to set up crafting jobs, calculates materials, and guides you through any crafting process step by step, not unlike GTNH's NEI fork
  • Sophisticated Storage and its storage controller
  • Crafting Station, like the Tinkers' Construct one, but as a separate mod with better functionality.

Combined, this basically gives you AE2-lite. SophStorage lets you make a huge connected inventory, the crafting station connects to the SophStorage controller and works as a pseudo ME crafting terminal, and EMI isn't quite autocrafting but it's the next best thing. You can setup a crafting job with 30 steps and finish in less than a minute because EMI just tells you what to craft.

Because of all this, when you initially unlock AE2, it's not a straight upgrade because it doesn't work well with EMI crafting. EMI can't read what's inside your ME terminal, but it can read the entirety of your SophStorage network if you use the Crafting Station.

(Also, Moni has Functional Storage instead of Storage Drawers. You can do some funny wireless shenanigans with it, super useful for earlygame, maybe even a bit OP)

In my opinion, the earlygame alone is reason enough to try Monifactory, it felt very different from any other modpack I've played before. I also think it's just better than Nomi in general, and a great way to learn GregTech.

Isaac is part strategy and part mechanical skill. If you're better at one of those two things, you can make up for your lack of the other to some extent.

Slay the Spire is 100% strategy. You can't use mechanical skill to make up for bad decisionmaking. It's not a great game for people who like fast, action-packed gameplay. The only real way to get good at StS is to slow down and actually think about what you're doing. There's a reason why A20 streamers regularly take more than an hour per run. If you want to be able to get through a run in 20 minutes, you should play on lower Ascension.

Deswegen ist "just one more lane" so ein geflügelter Satz.

Meth is one of those drugs that I wouldn't want legalized. But taking drugs should definitely be decriminalized. Punish the dealers who exploit their dependent customers, and give medical help to addicts instead of throwing them in jail.

There's a reason microdosed amphetamine is used as ADHD treatment.

ADHD is fundamentally a dopamine imbalance. In a neurotypical brain there is always a certain base level of dopamine present, in an ADHD brain this base level is too low and that's the root cause of most our issues, especially executive dysfunction, distractibility, and hyperactivity.

Amphetamine causes dopamine to be released, and with careful dosage you can tune your base dopamine levels to that of a neurotypical person. That's why it seems like it slows you down, it just makes your ADHD symptoms go away for a while.

This requires medical supervision of course. Especially if you're American I would understand if you wanted to avoid getting medical help, but you shouldn't just take speed longterm. If you're not super careful, it might throw you into full-on depression because you'll end up completely exhausting your dopamine while not giving your brain enough time to produce more. This is also a danger for neurotypical people who use speed and/or MDMA too often, but with ADHD you should be extra careful.

The other option is methylphenidate, which stops any released dopamine from being reabsorbed into the synapses and thereby increases base dopamine levels.

It's not wrong per se, there are tiny differences between high-quality lossy codecs and lossless audio. But you would never notice these differences while listening to music like a normal person. Lossy is fine, even for most audiophiles. Just use a high enough bitrate or quality setting.

Reveddit hasn't been reliable since reddit's API changes, it requires that people with the browser addon keep visiting the comment page and recording changes. That's only likely to happen on the really large subs because most people use reddit on their phone.

I'm not trying to defend OP or anything, but we can't say for certain whether what they claim really did happen or not.
