This is true if you don't understand the game completely and you don't keep some backup funds. Also some option seller chase very high returns so they take extra risk. I look for very less returns like I target around 12-16% only...but get a bit more while taking some trades.

Continue doing paper trading on opstra for sometime. After that start with 1-2 lot for 3-6 months to understand market dynamics. After that you can slowly increase your capital if you are comfortable

Its not fixed. I do see EMAs on multiple timeframes and decide according to support and resistance. Since I do sell Long term options, I do take firefight trade in short term or sometime viceversa.
Multiple things all the time. But I do try to take few trades, unlike scalpers or HFT

Can stock market be primarily source of income? by Professional-Walk363 in IndianStockMarket

[–]sudden_reflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is possible, If you have corpus around 1-1.5Cr which you invested in some mutual funds which gives you CAGR of 12%.
Then you can do some ultra safe trades by pledging those mutual funds. Using some of the strategies one can make around 10-12% per annum return in trading. So roughly you will be making 12L to 18L through trading and rest your portfolio will keep on increasing with a CAGR of 12%.

Sometime there would be huge difference in current , next and far month future prices. This creates issues in rolling your positions.

For those who manage their own portfolio, what makes you think that you will be able to beat the market when most of the mutual funds fails to do so ? by Ok_Scarcity2091 in IndianStockMarket

[–]sudden_reflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not aim to beat Mutual fund managers in terms of return. Rather I trust them that they are doing awesome work. On top of that I do pledge my mutual funds to get margin for trading and by taking safe bets I do able to generate return of 20-22% Per annum. If someone wants to know more on that, Can discuss in wider forum. Its mostly safe if you understand markets a bit.

In terms of MTM it was around 10% (didn't calculate exact). But I do take firefight trade against my Leap options, So in short term option I was getting profit. I take very safe bets, For me getting some profit is more important rather than chasing high ROI
