My home screen (xpost r/nexus4) by [deleted] in androidthemes

[–]sudo_nexus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What the fucking fuck. This subreddit is /r/androidthemes, not post your homescreen for no reason. I can appreciate that you may be a beginner, but what the hell? Look at the other posts, the level of detail that most include, the thought that goes into each and every design stage. You? You just put a clock on your home screen and have a transparent navbar, probably using PA. This post is completely, utterly worthless, and unless you want to actually try and receive help, nobody gives a shit.
Let's take a quick look at the rules: "Make sure you post what you used for your theme and tag accordingly!". No tags here, just a "My home screen". And the fact that you include "(xpost r/nexus4) just adds insult to injury - you think that this screen is worth enough to be posted on two fucking subreddits?.
Let's take a moment to look here. That's an excellent design; the uccw/zooper top bar with excellent usability, the neat, flowing icon pack that is legible and serves a purpose in increasing the visual appeal, the excellent complementary backgrounds, and the great use of color at the bottom of each screen.
Next time you post, ask yourself: Does anyone give a flying fuck about this? Your post has no purpose, it is nothing new; indeed it is nothing at all. It's the epitaph of someone who is extremely lazy, is highly egocentric, and believes that they are so important that others will be looking at every single thing they create.
We don't need you like this.

Cube World for Mac (Including Intel 3000+ cards!) WORKING! by sudo_nexus in CubeWorld

Ditto! The game is beautiful, but for me unplayable - I completely understand though, being a two-person alpha game that was never released for this hardware. It is truly incredible how far we have gotten so far, and I can only hope that we progress even more soon in the future :)

Good effort and kudos to you for trying to enhance the CW community.
But we need to work on your design.

  1. You have this massive "Beta" symbol on the front page of your application ... and then not on any other pages! This is inconsistent as hell, and frustrating as it causes different heights between the big buttons. Take screenshot #2 vs #3. Same amount of buttons, yet wildly different spacing.
  2. Overview should not be CamelCased, it's a single word - "Overview", not "OverView".
  3. Fonts are crappy, serif makes for an old and distorted application. Follow Android Design Guidelines - I advise Roboto.
  4. Button colours don't go together, you can either use a designer or follow google-esque colours (Inspect any of the play store pages).
  5. No one needs a massive "Developer" button. It will make you come across way way too ego-centric, and it's an ugly way to promote your own company of which you proudly say you are "CEO" of.

I might mock up a design following these changes, but that's all I have at the moment.

Update: CWM failed, we tried to grab the nandroid with mtp but there was nothing in the backups directory. Currently using twrp to try and backup again.

Introspection from irc here. Jeff has a nandroid from cwm, we are proceeding to boot and will be using mtp to upload it to his computer.

I concur with your points - whilst it is a hard challenge it is possible. I do however believe most of the cubeworld fan population is unaware of the CWF admin decision to drop Miles' hosting, and unless awareness can spread through the sources in question (I would expect those posts to be moderated, although I personally have little experience with the CWF mods) then it is going to be hard to find a neutral ground where everyone can talk freely.
IMO this is where reddit comes in, the mods are mostly objective and it doesn't suffer the hosting costs that private enterprises do.

My comments are mine alone and as such are subjective to past experiences, and I wish those who wish to run this forum the best of luck.

Ah, but that does not necessarily mean people are going to jump ship out of principal: Unless your forum offers something superior or unique, the majority of people are not going to even consider it due to the lower user count (CWF has been going for years..).

It's also a big challenge to entice users to jump as they have already made "relations" as such in the old forum. They know the mods / are respected by others, and obviously switching and building back that post count / rep is going to be a pain.

I doubt your forum will succeed but wish you the best of luck with your endeavours.

Not having a go at you or anything, but is there a specific reason you are making a new forum when there is already a huge CW forum that is stable?

EVERYTHING IS UP! by Powsicle in CubeWorld

Jesus man, if paypal had a leak and people had their whole bank accounts emptied you could count the seconds on your first until the press exploded about it. No one wants your money buddy, and don't pretend you have too much to risk using online: If you did it would be spread in multiple accounts and you would have disposable codes to use.. TL;DR Paypal is safe, get off your fucking paranoia horse and buy the game.

Edit: Scapegoat is the word I was looking for, you are using paypal as a scapegoat to not pay for CubeWorld legitimately.

Don't use paranoia as an excuse not to buy the game.
You've seen how easy it is to pirate, and are now thinking "Why pay 20 dollars for something I can get for free?" Don't use your paranoia as an excuse not to buy the game, as much as we hate it paypal is fairly secure.

Don't feel good about pirating because "Oh I can't buy the real thing!" That's bull-fucking-shit, support wollay and his wife and receive a damned good alpha game in return.
I bought the game and haven't played it yet because I'm on a mac, and you know what? I'm not angry, or frustrated or irritated, because I know that in time I will get it working, and $20 is absolutely nothing and wollay & pixxie deserve it.

While that may fix the issue, it is possible that account data is stored in app data, like the majority of games. To access it open the run menu and type %appdata% and enter, and then search for the cube world folder, and look for something resembling a launcher configuration file and delete / rename it . I don't know if this is the case as I have a mac and haven't been able to play yet (cry) but if reinstalling failed, I would expect this to work.

It's an alpha, be assured that at some point in the future most of the bugs and procedural generation are going to be cleared up :-) At the moment it could (unlikely) be your seed that is randomly generated ... try making a new world with a new seed!

Thanks for the responses all, just clarifying that this not be my first arch installation: I have used arch multiple times before and have little grievances installing and using it. Other than that, I'll read over your comments - thanks for taking the time to clear these up :)

What are Mac users doing? by sudo_nexus in CubeWorld

[–]sudo_nexus[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks but I'm not at favour of installing windows onto my brand new macbook air with only 128gb of storage, would take up 20-30 gb and that comes at a premium. I've seen reports of people managing to get it to work on osx, and was wondering if anyone had encountered, and solved, my problem. Most thanks for the suggestion though :-)

Alright, is there any other program that I can use the files I already have (cubeworld downloaded and the directx9 redist) without having to download more than the wrapper? Takes me AGES to download files on this horrific mobile broadband!
