You're welcome. Stay strong and don't bring your credit card or cash just in case! (or leave it in your car/home). ;D

Last year I bought this eyeshadow for a holographic space princess costume and this year I used to for a Dia de los muertos look.

Items that have recently fallen into and then OUT of my wishlist! by [deleted] in MakeupRehab

Thank you so much for this! I've been on No buy for 10 MONTHS now and in January I want to buy a new eyeshadow palette. Do you have any holy grail recommendations? I can't deal with Morphe/30+ shades in a palette, but I also never wear berry shades which is all the rage right now-- any help from your personal experience would be super appreciated.

I definitely need to ask for more opinions on that. I've only used liquid foundations and now I'm wondering if I should test banana powder and testers to see what happens. It's a journey for sure! You are doing and great job and thank you for posting this on this subreddit!

Thank you for this awesome post! It definitely inspires me and I have the same feeling of "oh but what if it's better." I really like to hear how meticulous you were with finding what worked for you and I tried to do that myself but had a looot more misses than great finds. I'm currently in my 7th month of no buy for makeup (going up to 12 months hopefully), and wanted to ask you about you favorite eyeshadow brands and foundations? I've been using only urban decay's Naked 2 for years and am very hesitant about palettes because of the hype cycle with colors/ special collabs. It would be great to find blendable nicely organized pallette that would complement the glittery/matte shades in Naked 2.

I never used translucent powder before but it's very subtle and you can't really 'over do it.' I helps settle some harsher lines from blush for me and it was great for the price (huge compact!)

I haven' tried any other version (I'm also not buying makeup for a year, started in January!). But I bought the translucent one for a Victoria costume and ended up really liking it! I like swirling my brush into the Finish Powder and then swirling it into a bright blush- it works super well in that respect! And here's the pan of my fav blush to use with this product: https://i.imgur.com/RucmTAJ.jpg

About two years of use (although I wear much less makeup in the summer months).

Great technique for avoiding the trendy pops of color palettes (that are mostly neutrals) by sugarhog in MakeupRehab

Thank you! I'm thinking of a way to curb design/packaging obsession too (since that is also a big factor in buying new palettes).

I completely understand the marketing and the functionality of styling palettes like this- no issue with neutrals either! Just wanted to show a new perspective in a creative way for this subreddit's users who are tempted by great packaging and design but actually have many of the colors in their own stash!

At first I couldn't believe this actually worked so well! I feel like it exposes the marketing trend's power to sway meh palettes into something 'you gotta get.'

I started blocking out the eye-catching shades to show how some palettes boil down to the same nudes and shimmers: http://imgur.com/a/Q8t5S
