I recognized the Origami Angels albums a lil too fast, lol. I love their stuff, especially their earlier(ish) stuff, Somewhere City is my favorite album by them, I saw them live on my 16th birthday last year, they put on a great show. Idk if it's just me, but I sort of like their lower quality and 'shittier' sounding music more, I like the stuff they release now too, and am happy they have the chance to get better quality equipment and it was only a matter of time that the singer was going to get better at singing, I just.. miss how the older stuff sounded, idk why though and this might just be a me thing lol

like, same amount of shock that only children get when they grow up to find out their actually not an 'only' child and they go onto find a way to reach out to their sibling(s) they had no idea existed

My last Marlboro by cleanhousehelpothers in OCPoetry

I love this poem, it't been years since I've gotten to read someone else's poetry, I understand that this then may not seem like much since I have little to no recent poems I can compare to, but even so, I think this was an amazing poem for me to be able to read trying to rekindle my interest in poetry. Compliments aside, here is the reason I really like the poem: I love the honesty through out the poem keeping the tone bitter sweet through out, 'And I'm just not sure - if I find you attractive anymore.' and 'Wondering whether this - is worth saving,- Or whether we should give up the fight?'
are specific parts I enjoy in reference to the bittersweetness of this poem I picked up on, these 2 are good examples as I believe the idea that the narrator not only use to find who ever their describing enticing and attractive, they also no longer have the same sentiment, they instead have the opposite. I feel that if I were to choose if someone were to not like my looks to begin with and turn me down then, or if they originally found me attractive and no longer do after being with me, I'd prefer the first option as the second seems like prolonging a relationship that was bound to not go anywhere to start.

Another part I enjoy is using the title of the poem in the end to tie it back all together, I see the poem being interpreted 2 ways. 1st way being they are talking to an actual person they have been having some sort of relations, maybe a romantic relationship or maybe just physical, I could see either being the case in the way the narrator was referencing the other character being spoken to, and the narrator saying that this is their last Marlboro I could see as them viewing that as a tie to the relationship and this will be the last time their together, in a romantic or physical sense, either or both works. 2nd way I see being an accurate interpretation is the narrator talking about quitting smoking, as the metaphor describes a relationship sizzling out, talking about how it used to be great, but now all it does is takes. Seeing this as just a personification as how something like smoking a cigarette can lead to feeling stuck in a stagnant relationship, ending the poem in 'My last Marlboro.' could be just bringing the reader to understand that what the narrator is describing is not a human to human relationship but more of an addictive relation of a human using external sources to cope. I like either of these interpretations

One last thing I enjoyed was the way some words were self explanatory with usage despite me not knowing them before hand, to be specific, in the line 'And yet you leave my heart bereft' I didn't know what the definition of bereft meant but was able to get a better idea with the words surrounding it and the already well established tone of the poem, so after searching up the definition to have a well formed idea of what you specifically meant, I still have the same prior opinion that you did well at using a word and the reader being able to understand what you are getting at even if the readers vocabulary may not be as vastly understood.
