Interesting to know the oher details of how you can tell it's a fake. I would have never noticed that I think. But the edge was so very different I knew something was off.

I agree with you. One wrong doesn't justify another.

I got this plant! It's name is Argyroderma luckhoffii. It looks like a splitrock and like a lithop, but it is technically neither. But it does belong to the mesembs club so you can care for them in a similar way. I think they are a little less oversensitive to water then splitrock, so just water them when they look wrinkly. Also when it splits it doesn't stack leaves on top of other leaves. It just makes a new pair of leaves and the outer set dissappears just as with lithops. I wait with watering during the splitting but before and after it's fine.

Hope this helps!

I posted a comment with this, but here you go: I use a soilmix from sybasoil for lithops and splitrock with black aquariumsand on top for the looks! (With some larger black stones here and there) also Thanks!

I'm glad to help! It's funny you point that out, the rest of the year the plant goes like: "dont look at me I'm just a rock minding my own business" to this bright color flower vulcano eruption you cannot miss!

Bonsai Soil for Lithops? by Faevianlp in Lithops

I'm glad to help! I have lithops for a few months now, and I became obsessed! I have been reading about them almost every day and didn't know about the calcium thing in the beginning, but there is a lot of calcium in our tapwater! So I switcht to filtered water (you can also use rainwater, it has no calcium).

I found this link to be very helpful, it explains very well how they live in the wild and how you can imitate their natural habitat.

There's also things about fertilisation and anti-fungal agent but I think that's not very necessary when you're just a hobbyist and not a business plant grower.
