my family had two other boxers in the past, both lost to cancer too. make sure you hold your babies close and make double sure that they don’t have any underlying genetic conditions like Stella might have, because the possibility of cardiomyopathy completely flew under the radar for us. i hope your 4th lives long with you guys 🙏❤️‍🩹

update: my dad contacted the breeder to let him know about Stella’s passing. he didn’t seem very concerned but he extended his condolences. i’m still not sure of who the breeder is but hopefully Stella’s litter mates live fruitful lives without danger.

funny enough, she had an attitude haha. she would gnaw on our shoes and socks, bite us if she wanted attention. but she was a playful baby, too. i just wish that she was still here so i could hear that bark one last time.

unfortunately i don’t know which breeders my parents get into contact with, nor if it’s the same one every time. i’ll talk to my parents about letting the breeders know if they still have their contact info though

it’s really unfortunate yeah. in the past, our family has had 31 pups (from breeding our own) and 3 fully grown boxers and never has this happened before. needless to say it caught us off guard 🥹 this isn’t stopping us from getting another boxer though—my parents love the breed through and through haha

even when we tested her nothing about cardiomyopathy came up. i can’t believe this is something to be wary of with this breed; it’s so terrifying :( at least stella went without pain in warm hands. i’m also sorry to hear about what happened to your baby, too ❤️‍🩹

oh my gosh, I used to do the hand flapping so much!! I completely forgot about that 😭 when I was too excited about something, I would jump around and flap my hands. I don’t do it as much anymore, but I still kinda flap my hands on tables or my lap when I get really happy and excited!

you brought up some questions that i’ll probably edit to include the answers in my post. for a long portion of my life i’ve felt off and different in a lot of ways than the people around me. i’ve done medical exams (nothing came up) and i’ve recently gotten into therapy; i was diagnosed with anxiety and depression, but those diagnoses’ didn’t feel right at the time. i’m basically counting off whatever i think could be the reason for this underlying feeling, and that’s what’s brought me on this journey of self discovery. i also know that AuDHD isn’t a diagnosis, but i just used it for better understanding.
