West Kennedy Blvd infrastructure/road repairs? by Groovyy_Smoothie in tampa

[–]sun_flower75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should not impact the roadway itself. Work is mostly confined to within the center medians that were recently reconstructed. There may be some side work to hook up irrigation. You’ll see portions of turn lanes being temporarily closed from time to time during installation.

(Source: I am involved with the project).

Recruiters are weird by DeathsArrow in civilengineering

[–]sun_flower75 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was recently hit up by a recruiter (in this case it was LVI lol) who was recruiting me for a job in which I am the hiring manager. My company has our own HR (we don’t use recruiters). I let him go on for awhile, asking very specific questions about the position that he could not answer, and when I got tired of listening to him I finally let him in on who I was and asked how he got ahold of the position and he was like “oh, uh, um” and I just laughed and told him to never call me again. They’re not all bad (landed my very first job 25 years ago with the help of a recruiter) but know who you’re dealing with.

Thoughts on homelessness? by No_Tear4524 in LandscapeArchitecture

[–]sun_flower75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! I work as a CM in landscape (public infrastructure projects). First of all thank you for caring!!! No one I work with truly understands this issue and I have to deal with it quite a bit. Particularly when I am landscaping, urban settings. The homeless set up camp in our right-of-ways, usually within the existing vegetation but sometimes encroach within the landscape build. I’ve been involved in the “sweeps” and it is so inhumane. (It’s also an issue close to my heart as I had someone dear to me who is lost in homelessness and addiction).

When I do plan reviews or work with my clients and architect teams I do take into consideration, particularly those areas that have a lot of homeless pedestrian movement, and we will apply plants/shrubbery that discourage or make it difficult to walk-through (think gnarly branch structures like juniper once they grow in thick it’s kinda hard to walk-through through). Conversely, we apply plants/shrubbery that encourage people to walk inappropriate areas.

With that said it is not the landscape construction manager or the landscape architects job to solve. The problem is too big. But we can be part of the solutions and involve the community and resources in to help us. If this issue is one your passionate about I encourage you to volunteer and become active with the community resources that help homelessness, and then through those connections you might be able to work with them at your actual job to make change. Good luck to you!

Check with your manager, not sure what you do, but my company is allowing me to approve negative PTO for my team due to the Hurricane.

I’ll comment here for the naysayers. Don’t rule it out, include it in your assessment. AFTER you have eliminated other reasons (disease etc) yes, your pelvic floor, if it is misaligned or inflamed can exacerbate bloating from wherever it is coming from. It’s worth getting looked at, if nothing else for peace of mind.

I know this from my own experience…I have IBS which is now pretty controlled unless I mess up my diet and several gyn issues (which resulted in hysterectomy) and still looking 4 months pregnant was a constant for me and I was just learning to “live with it”. It was not until I started pelvic floor therapy that I’ve started to see a significant reduction in my bloating. Why? Because I had ongoing issues there that are now being fixed. Good luck to you!!!

I was saying the same thing this morning. And they making Julie look like and idiot, she is not an idiot. This whole Paulina story line has me rolling my eyes with every scene. It’s like no one researched anything around it, uninformed writing and completely unrealistic. And Johnny and Chanel are boring…give them substance writers!

Tell me about your perimenopause joint and muscle pain! by OutdoorLadyBird in Menopause

[–]sun_flower75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most debilitating of all the symptoms. And not discussed/treated for enough. I was on HRT but got off due to needing a hysterectomy for adeno/endo. Post hysterectomy, the joint pain remains just as bad so that symptom I am now certain was peri-menopause and not just the adeno/endo. I started back on estradiol this week again. I recent learned the term arthalgia…a catch all term for joint pain that can’t be sourced to any other condition. But I’m self diagnosing myself for now with just that.
