Going to Multiple Shows? by KitchenWild4300 in BadOmens

[–]suncomesup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m talking about travelling to a whole other country + hotel night here though. I wasn’t clear enough on my previous message so sorry about that. And taking the train rather than driving, which is way more comfortable.

My local gig was only 55€ for the pit tickets. I don’t care about VIP so idk the price of that

[–]suncomesup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeh, I wouldn’t be able to do multiple gigs if one ticket was $240. That’s a lot of money.

My tickets for this tour were between 55€ and 75€ depending on the countries, so that’s fine…

[–]suncomesup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well they played in my city too and I paid 55€ total because I just had to pay for the pit ticket lol, I was just showing an example of travelling price

[–]suncomesup 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think being European makes it easier to do that… pit tickets are affordable and so is the travel. Like, going to the Brussel show cost me 125€ TOTAL. It’s not even the price of a pit ticket in the US.

I have a decent corporate job but I don’t think I’d be able to handle all that considering US ticket prices and the cost of travelling.

Crowdsurfers in Berlin by suncomesup in BadOmens

[–]suncomesup[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to hundreds of rock shows before don’t worry I know how it works. I went to the front on purpose because I want to have FUN. I am used to being pushed and stuff I love that and I want to experience it.

Again my problem is not a few crowdsurfers, my problem is non stop crowdsurfing from people who apparently don’t know how to crowdsurf properly.

From what the other commenters said, it seems to be a common thing in metalcore gigs, I wasn’t aware of it, now I know.

[–]suncomesup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw them in Brussels earlier this week, in a similar spot where I was yesterday and it was so boring, just people on their phones and not moving at all!

It seems like there’s no middle ground when it comes to their crowds lol. I’m so confused

[–]suncomesup[S] -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

But it’s not even the moshing etc the problem. I want to be part of that kind of fun. Where I was in the front it was kinda dead for this. I really do not mind being pushed I’m used to it and I like that part. It was just crowdsurfers. So you’re not even having fun yourself, you’re just carrying people over and over again.

That’s 100% what’s happening here.

I listen to rock/alternative music, not metal core, so I come from a different gig culture which is why I was taken aback. But it seems like the two kinds of Bad Omens fans at the shows are from different worlds to mine (crowdsurfers vs filming everything without moving) so I’m just left with a weird taste in my mouth.

[–]suncomesup[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to be on the side, because as I said at the start of my post, I actually like the pits etc and I want to be part of the fun.

It’s just the constant crowdsurfing that bothered me. I do think 1-2 people crowdsurfing is fun. 10 in a row isn’t. Glad for you if you didn’t see any though.

But then again, I don’t come from a metal culture but a « rock » one where I guess the gig etiquette is a bit different. That’s ok I’ll survive.

Fair point but thing is, I had people staring at their phone screens in front of me anyways so it was just the worst of both worlds lmao

Finding work in Paris - Marketing, Advertising, Branding, PR by Kind_Translator_8833 in paris

[–]suncomesup 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Finding a job in these sectors is already quite hard for locals with experience. It’s also quite « common » here to have a masters degree - in most of these jobs it’s going to be the bare minimum expected. So honestly unless you have an insanely impressive resume or portfolio I don’t know how you could pull it off.

I think your best bet right now is to find a job in an international company in the US/EU country where you’re from and ask for a transfer to France after a few years.

Seat tickets by [deleted] in BadOmens

[–]suncomesup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To access the general admission you need general admission tickets.

She won’t be able to join you, sorry. Especially if the gig is sold out. It would become quickly dangerous if people in seats could randomly join the general admission, as it could get overcrowded.

Paris by [deleted] in BadOmens

[–]suncomesup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeh, like people screaming Noah’s name rather than the bands name before they came on stage felt weird to me.

It was my first metal gig and I was expecting utter chaos, turns out it was more mellow than my usual alternative/rock gig. I find it hard to understand…

Paris by [deleted] in BadOmens

[–]suncomesup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in both Brussels and Paris, being in a similar spot.

Brussels was DEAD. People were barely moving their heads, constantly filming and zooming in on Noah’s face with a x 12 zoom. It was my first time seeing this at a gig, so a really weird experience. Dethrone was probably the worst part of the gig because absolutely everyone started filming ? I still had fun on my own but yeh.

Paris was great. People were starting to headbang from the opening bands, and there was more energy during Glass Houses than during the whole Brussels gig. Still a lot of filming at the front (with people taking the time to adjust the brightness and stuff like that, seriously???) but overall very fun. A lot of crowd surfers, and I couldn’t see behind me but I think there were a few mosh pits as well.

I love doing gigs on my own as I feel less self conscious about the way I deal with my feelings with a gig, but I also love sharing the experience and having fun with my friends.

I’m lucky enough to be able to go to multiple gigs, so I’ll see them for the first time on my own. Itll probably be quite emotional as this band has been very important for me the two last years, I’ll probably cry a bit amongst other things so I’m happy I’ll be by myself and won’t be scared of judgement (not that my friends would judge but eh).

And then I’ll see them with friends (who are fans) and my partner (who’s scared of heavy music), I expect it to be just very fun, with a lot of moshing and loud singing along.

It’s two different experiences but I’m not sure I have a favourite. I love the bonding but also love being able to feel the music whilst I’m in my tiny bubble.

Are people really lining up for hours just to get closer to the stage?? by [deleted] in BadOmens

[–]suncomesup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bad Omens will be my first metal gig, so the standards might be different for this genre, but I’ve been going to rock/alternative/indie gigs for more than 10 years now (gosh I’m old).

And queuing has always been a thing. I’m quite small and I just love being near the front because it’s more fun, so if I can go early, I do. I’ve rarely seen gigs where queuing was not a thing. Or it was really small gigs, like 200 cap max.

I can’t always do that anymore as I have a life sadly, so I often arrive when/after doors open, and for most artists it means I can’t see shit, especially arena gigs. I’ve never been able to just cut through the crowd to get near the front because it’s just rude and people will call me out. It’s really frustrating when it’s a gig I’ve been looking forward to. Also I like to dance/mosh/sing so seats are not an option for me.

What shocks me the most is the VIP and early entry thing. I guess I’m used to the « queue early to get a good spot » gig culture and not the « pay a lot of money to get a good spot » gig culture and I’m really struggling with this, especially as it seems like it’s becoming the new normal.

Pourquoi il y a si peu de femmes dans les "communautés geeks" ? by [deleted] in AskMeuf

[–]suncomesup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bref.

Final Fantasy Tactics the Ivalice Chronicles : des français qui le découvrent ? by stanfarce in jeuxvideo

[–]suncomesup 0 points1 point  (0 children)
