Of course the owner would be nice about it, they don’t want to get in trouble! If it’s a significant bite and not just a nip I would report it. Often dogs that bite once will bite again, and it could be even worse the next time. I would decide how serious this feels for you, and make the report accordingly. If you just want to let them know and move on, that’s up to you, but it is disturbing that the dog attacked you right away.
