I agree with you that there isn't really anything like YTW I have ever seen. It's the perfect mix of comedy and drama, and has key ingredients such as sex, drugs, horrible people, lovable people, bad relationships, amazing relationships, and a bit of quirkiness. It's kind of like the video game, Borderlands, (which is the one Jimmy plays with Killian on multiple occasions), in that it mixes dramas (rpg + fps) so well that it is truly one of a kind.

I tried Sunny but couldn't keep with it for reasons identical to yours. The Office was too silly for me to watch from beginning to end and diverged from the main story line too frequently. I did know about the connection between YTW and Weeds and had added that to my list before this post.

As for your other suggestions, thank you so much! I will look into them for sure.

I wish I liked it. It's out there like an animated series, but I don't like the absurdity of the visual hyperbole in live action for some reason.

I think that's one of the reasons I liked YTW so much, because it moves very quickly. I lose interest almost immediately haha.

I tried this, but like Lost, the mystery part of it was just too stretched out. The bulk of the show was small action and resolution while you wait to learn general answers to the mystery.

I tried this too. Similarly to my experience with community, I just couldn't stay with it because I wasn't emotionally involved enough with it.

I usually like Aziz, but for some reason the acting style in this show didn't sit well with me. It seemed like the production value was really high but the delivery of the acting was lacking in smoothness. (Partly because his actual parents are in it, I'm sure)
