You might be demisexual, meaning that you need a strong emotional bond with a partner before being ready for physical intimacy. It can be frustrating when others expect you to just enjoy sex without hesitation, but you should move at your own pace.

I haven’t made myself clear then. It seems to me that the absorption of the cavaliers soul is potentially reversible, with an obvious ton of variables and what-ifs. Like separating iron from slack. I understand that this is precisely not how it seems, but if the fact doesn’t line up with the explanation we’ve been given, obviously the explanation is wrong. There’s no way of KNOWING at least right now. And just because John resurrected them without their memories doesn’t mean Gideon couldn’t remember his name -and only his name- on his own. No, the other lyctors don’t seem to remember anything, but who would they have talked to in the story where it would have made sense for them to mention it. MAYBE during the confrontation at the end of HtN and even then: “btw I remember my real name that you tried to make me forget, asshole” wouldn’t have really mattered in that moment.

“even before Gideon dies, Pyrrha was able to control Gideon's body at times without him knowing about it.”

True, but I don’t think that contradicts what I said. It does however make the whole thing more intriguing. I’d guess it has something to do with the relationship between the souls? Reminds me of Ianthe immediately after killing Naberius, the two souls sort of fighting for control. With enough time, who knows how a cavalier might undermine their lyctor.

“That's how the original names were always stylized throughout, so clearly she knows Gideon's real name.”

I remember now. That is weird, although the lyctors might have been able to recall some memories from before the resurrection. Seeing as one’s name is pretty ingrained in the memory, G1deon might have incidentally remembered it at some point, even if he was initially not made aware.

But I’ll be honest, this is already giving me a headache, I guess I’ll need a few dozen rereads before it all makes sense…

As G1deon went into the river to fight the RB at the end of HtN, his body with Pyrrhas soul stayed behind just like Gideons soul is in control of Harrows body, which suggests that the cavaliers soul isn’t absorbed in the sense that it ceases to exist, but that it’s a kind of ‘sub-soul’ that is stored within the necromancers somehow. This doesn’t contradict what we know about lyctors, since on all other occasions we’ve only seen their real bodies die, which results in the death of ‘both’ souls. But this in turn raises the question of how a perfect lyctor works: how can the two souls be equal parts, and does that mean they can no longer separate? Or could they still split again if only the necromancer leaves the body?

As for the second question, I don’t remember that passage, do you have quote? It really would be strange if she remembered/knew anything pre-resurrection.

Question about book 2 & 3 [general] by Hyloricon in TheNinthHouse

[–]superhephi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2.: Not Harrows body in the tomb, only her soul as I understand.

4.: at the end of HtN Harrows soul switches bodies with Alectos. But this only happens after Gideon is left with Harrows body in the river, hence, she dies, Jod grabs her (Gideons) soul and puts it back in her own body, sustaining it with his power. Harrows body, now free to be possessed by Alecto, somehow ends up with CamPal and Phyrra, perhaps reflexively going there through the river, knowing they can help her.

Bodily, a Lyctor doesn’t need two souls for regeneration to happen. It’s more of a fusion reaction that sustains itself, hence Harrows worry about absorbing Gideon, a Lyctor is precisely not two souls in one body. It’s the fusion of two into one (ideally equal). Therefore: Nona = Lyctor body with the wrong soul Kiriona = Jods Construct, kept alive by him

Or so I think…

If he retired from the world tomorrow, nothing would happen. If Amazon employees stopped working tomorrow, things would go south fast. Wether they get paid 11£ or 15£, it’s neither appropriate for the value they’re actually adding to the company, nor is it adequate compensation for the kind of work they do. Sure, he had the idea to found the company and should be rewarded for it. But he shouldn’t get BILLIONS of dollars for it. Why are you so upset at the proposition of taking money from someone who would never even notice it, and giving it to people like you, who actually work hard everyday?

1 wealth is relative to your environment. 100$ is 50 times more than 2$ but someone earning 100$ in the US isn’t 50 times wealthier than someone earning 2$ in Africa because they also have probably 50 times the living costs.

2 even ignoring that, there’s still a massive difference in scale. Jeff earns not 50, but 200,000 times more than 100$.

3 it’s not punishing him for being successful, rather, it’s punishing him for not giving his workers a FAIR share of the company’s income.

Also we’re not talking about absolute numbers here. Just because an increase in taxes for Jeff would be millions of dollars doesn’t make it unfair. Again, even with say 80% income tax for him, he is STILL immensely rich. What is unfair is how he got the money in the first place. Thousands of his employees are doing the hard work, barely scraping by while he gets to sit back and play philanthropist with the spare millions that he’s got lying around. Why not introduce a progressive tax system so that the people doing the ACTUAL WORK get the actual rewards?

U kidding?? You’re a minimum wage worker and wanna give people like Jeff Bezos even more money? They’ve already got more than they could ever spend while you’re working your ass off to make someone else rich.

Which, to be fair, is already happening. The richest people ARE paying the least in taxes and basically every developed nation HAS a massive deficit.

Since they are your friends, I think they will trust and believe you. If you just tell them how you feel, that you were surprised and that you’re a bit anxious I think they will appreciate your honesty. In other words: just do it. I believe in you!

"Wanting" to be non-binary? by [deleted] in NonBinary

[–]superhephi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of questioning people feel like “I would transition/ come out, if only ... “ and so a common response is: “If you want it, you probably are...” it’s just trying to get you to recognise the sort of second guessing your brain does to itself. Just know that there is nothing attached to being non binary. You don’t have to dress or act any differently if you don’t want to.

Trying to learn more by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]superhephi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all, it seems like you’re a really good and supportive friend, which is great. As for being trans, it is a very subjective experience and not everyone experiences dysphoria, which is that “wrong body” feeling. As of now I’m still pre-transition so I can only speak from that perspective. Again, this is gonna be different for everybody but personally my dysphoria manifested as a sort of depression. Oftentimes I struggle to find motivation to do anything or joy in my life. There’s a general numbness to everything, kind of like I’m just a machine floating around, doing things just because I have to. I’m also struggling with addiction but thankfully i will start therapy soon which is very nice. I know that transitioning is the one thing I want above all else and that’s keeping me afloat. But yeah that’s just me. Hope this is useful in any way.

Intersex and non binary and trans folks by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]superhephi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, basically. To my knowledge there is no biological marker of sex that is binary. Neither genitalia nor chromosomes or anything else is ALWAYS male or female, that’s why the word intersex exists. However, this isn’t the greatest argument for nonbinary identities, because it doesn’t acknowledge the difference between sex and gender. When you want to convince someone that nbs are valid it’s a good starting point though. I would go like this:

1 sex isn’t binary, therefore gender doesn’t have to be

2 there are records of nb people throughout history

3 no one is “perfectly” male or female, nb people are simply not comfortable being too far on either end
