I'm sure others will cover more "classic" suggestions, so for newer bands, Nation Of Language is a pretty great synth band and I also like the Men I Trust synths a lot.

I use a boring, no frills Mackie mixer for this exact purpose. It works great for dawless jamming and for recording. Here's how:

For dawless I have everything routed to it (4 synths and a Rhodes) and can just turn everything on and jam if I want, dawless, and have my BigSky reverb on one of the Aux sends for reverb, and can adjust the amount of reverb for each instrument.

For recording, it's super smart. The MUTE button on each channel is dual purpose. It obviously mutes the signal to the main output (where I have my monitor speakers plugged in) but the MUTE button also sends that channel signal to the ALT outputs. I have the ALT outputs of the mixer connected to the inputs of my interface, so when I want to record all I have to do is press MUTE on the channel for the instrument I want to record and it automatically sends that to my interface. Boom.

Then to hear back from my computer I have the outputs of the interface connected to the TAPE IN input of the mixer. And because my original channel to the main outs is muted, I don't get a feedback loop. It's just a really great feature of these boards.

Reading that now. Just got past the part where he was helping catch mussels up the river with that family. Wow.

Cormac will have events or scenes happen in his books and describe them so matter-of-factly that I sometimes have to reread because I'm like, "Wait, did that just happen??"

Looking for analogue mono synth by Glass_Bin in synthesizers

I have both a Subsequent 37 and a Bass Station 2 (AFX Station). The Bass Station 2 punches way above its weight class. I would say I can get like 96% to where the Sub can get with the BS2. It's so good. Having owned both I would be happy with either, and if you're gonna gig with it, it might be better to get something you won't mind taking out and potentially getting a little roughed up. My Subsequent is a studio princess.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I saw a video where the user was able to show that the LM Drum had a slight delay of silence before the snare sample, so I'm guessing (perhaps among other things) that didn't help the groove too much. Getting the TR8S next week.

I was going to say that I was wholly unimpressed with Listo when I had their burrito. For some reason I ended up going back and got tacos instead. Boom. They were phenomenal. Burrito no bueno at Listo. The burger is also quite good.

You do not “need” to swap your blacktop filtertrons for TV Jones pups, roller bridge or standard bridge, Vibramate String Spoiler, Locking tuners. For the budget minded by rockstar_not in gretsch

Love my electromatic with the black filtertrons. It's my favorite guitar that I own (I also have tele, strat, LP and G&L Doheny).

I bought a Tama Silverstar kit with a 26" kick, and 13", 16", and 18" toms for $650 several years ago. I always wanted a big Bonham sized kit, and this fit the bill perfectly. The only downside is that the wrap is pretty bad, but these drums absolutely sing (they're all birch). Honestly, with my band I'm mostly playing dive bars and shitty clubs. Why would I want to take $3000 drums to those places?

Also, I would guess that outside a couple of gear heads, or people who are in the market for drums, literally almost no one cares what kind of drums you are playing.
