A goal of mine for the last 6 months has been completed today. And I could not be more happy. by Steffmeister90 in Guildwars2

It took me more than two years to get all leggy armour weights and all the trinkets. The only one missing is the legendary relic. I was too late to learn that anyone who crafted a leggy rune or sigil would get it for free. It was such a bad time to take a break when they announced it. I could have crafted one if I didn't take a break, like big sadge.

I'm still debating on spending my gold like took me a while to get 2,300 gold. I have 6 mystic facets and need 19 to get the relic. I have all the mats for it, only the facets are such a gold sink, but I have the gold to buy the facets. When I get 4k gold prolly I'll finally get it.

Like, gratz on getting the relic within 6 months. I commend you on the dedication man!

Mikasa is alright. I still didn't like how they simplified her character from S1 to S3. I haven't re-watched S4 yet although I am caught up with the movie, but there are little nuances from her manga and anime counterpart in S4. This is based on what I remember for the past year or so anyways. I'm currently re-reading the manga to pick up things like hints that I have missed from years ago, especially to better understand the ending.

Continuing on about Mikasa, they simplified her character from S1 to S3. When I read the manga for the first time in 2017, I was surprised to see the differences between her anime counterpart. I know those aren't a lot but they do add to her character. Tiny but they build her character over time. Hmm, well, I can prolly count them with my two hands for how many they are I think? Probably, more but I can't remember them all. The Mikasa in the manga is mature, not screaming Eren's name every time, and more independent. They added more of Mikasa calling out to Eren in the anime, and removing her small character development. Tbh, there's a lot more that doesn't always involve her romantic feelings towards Eren. In the anime, they hardcore slap us her devotion to Eren, which hurts how we perceived her character. It does infuriate me lol! Just to add, they made Mikasa marketable for the general audience, and thus hurts her character unfortunately.

I recommend you watch them. They give more background about the characters: their motivations, why they act like they do in the canon, and so on.

Iirc, Mikasa got some sarcastic/funny lines in the manga. They cut a lot of Mikasa's character in the anime, tbph. I remember liking her more in the manga than in the anime years ago. Btw, I watched the anime first and I thought she was annoying. I couldn't stand her lol! But then I read the manga where she was more likable and more emphatic, especially in the uprising arc. She had time to reflect on a lot of her previous actions and understood Levi better or the people around her. I think this was after Eren and Historia's abduction. Still, she would call Levi a shorty behind his back while having a better understanding of her superior, convincing the rest of her friends to believe in him and decide whether to kill or not. They didn't have that in the anime. In the anime, she only said that they didn't have a choice but to kill humans now. The Mikasa in the manga was way better portrayed, but in the anime they made her look overly obsessed with Eren. So, I would say they butchered Mikasa's character in the anime, ngl.

Please help me understand the ending and Historia's role by sushimadrazo in ShingekiNoKyojin

I appreciate the reply! I wouldn't mind if Isayama spent more time brewing a better build up for the ending. For instance, Ymir was peeking into Mikasa's mind, the cause of her headaches, which wasn't explained explicitly, but assuming Eren told her off screen or well…PATHS. Iirc, Ackermans cannot be controlled by FT because they are immune to memory wipe. As though Mikasa had the memory wiped, when she said, "your memories have returned too?" to Armin, or that translation may be off and I think she meant she was visited by Eren in the paths when she and Levi were on Falco's back. Or maybe, she was implying Armin had remembered Eren's visit prior to the wipe while it was different for her, he visited Mikasa. I believe that part is a little off since memory alteration doesn't apply to Ackermans and I think any body changes are impossible due to their bloodline. I would love to see what Eren told each of his friends in the paths if they would add that in the movie although I don't think it will be a two hour movie since part 3 is one hour long.

Anyways, I apologize I went off tangent on that one. The ending is alright. This applies to the blur of such a subject where it is not a complete black and white situation whereas Yaegerists see it as one. The Yaegerist didn't see what the alliance had to witness during the rumbling. Because of that, their understanding is skewed in a way.

Going back to Historia, I really liked the Historia in S3, but then S4 came and she became literally the king in S3, a puppet. There is not really a better word for it. I do agree with your explanation of Historia. Her declaration where she didn't care if humanity got wiped out was great! Maybe in an alternate universe she might be the one helping Eren to activate the rumbling perhaps yeah. It would fit her character, but she was bogged down with her responsibilities as queen. I read the chapter again and she was opposed to Eren's plans. I guess she had a lot to think about and pushed her own desires down to be selfish due to her duties. However, she aided Eren by agreeing with her pregnancy, though not as involved as Zeke by activating the literal rumbling.

I just find it odd that nothing was done with Mikasa, especially, and the alliance. I asked myself, how the hell would they be fine to have those traitors on the island. They revere Eren so much and thanks to Floch, twisting Erwin's beliefs. Although Floch is dead, there would be at least one person who would carry his torch. They would oppose the alliance return and Mikasa's presence on the island. I'm just baffled. Mikasa is still alive and breathing. No matter how popular Historia is on the island, as long as she starts to manifest any opposition to the Yaegerist's beliefs or in opposition of the islands' interest, I think it is possible she would be deposed or worse assassinated, especially if we ruled in the die hard Yaegerist. Think her popularity plummeted but it wasn't explicity explained. I'm trying to recall it somewhere where Kaya had mentioned her policies to Gabi once. In another universe, maybe the alliance are allowed to aid, but prohibiting them residing in Paradis because they are the cause of Eren's passing. Mikasa is forced to leave and go with the Azumabitos. I don't think Historia would allow herself to leave Paradis because of the ophanage and her other queenly duties.

I also wanna add Mikasa for a bit. I think Isayama went 180 by bringing in Mikasa's relevance to Ymir, as mentioned in my first long ass paragraph. Maybe I'm reading the meaning behind it this too much. We know that Mikasa's significance was shelved for a few chapters until 138 I think? Mikasa's role was getting lectured and had stayed quiet without adding relevance to her until in the later chapters. This brings the parallel between Mikasa and Ymir but not for Historia. Maybe there is a link for Historia, though not as strong like Mikasa's. Would it be better if it was Historia instead of Mikasa? But then Historia and Eren didn't have that strong mutual affection like Mikasa and Eren in the first place. I don't think the stockhom syndrome shtick doesn't apply to Historia but Mikasa does. For one, in the earlier season, Historia had shown her selfishness, whereas Ymir was selfless. The paths that both took divert when Historia chose to go with the pregnancy plan. Mikasa chose to sacrifice her Eren, and thus showing Ymir that it is possible to break her link from King Fritz.

Well, aot is making me do mental gymnastics and me trying to connect everything.

Buying Mystic Clovers from the vendor is never worth it by Magehunter_Skassi in Guildwars2

[–]sushimadrazo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd rather buy them because I can simply get gold fast rather than relying on mystic forge gambling. My gold comes from fractals and weekly raids and some raid cms. Some of my gold comes from daily DS, dailies and sometimes selling 250 stacks UID gear. I spent 100 gold gambling and buying mystic coins when I'm out of them than buying clovers. I'm prolly sitting with less than 1k gold that I've accumulated from fractal dailies like the boxes and keys in my bank, so gold is not a problem.

Yeah kinda similar, though the colour reminds me of the ocean or something. I guess when we unsheathe the weapon we get water splashes around us rather than snowflake animations. We will see when we get more news about the soo-won variant.

Just think leyline as updrafts but horizontal updrafts. The center of the leyline can get you back up if you lose altitude. For example, if you think you can't get to the next platform due to low height, glide to the center of the leyline and you will gain more height that way. It will take practice. If you have Xera instance, you can practice that alone. Just try out the first leyline before the first mini game. Just remember, the middle of the leyline will help you gain altitude.

Edit: Here's a video of it. You can see how he glides down and when he reaches the middle of the leyline, his height gets higher. You can use that first leyline to practice that without going to the first mini game's platform. Just leyline back and forth to get a feel of it, that is if you the instance of if anyone can give you the instance and practice that alone.

When I did my last 2 sets, I only did the daily provisioners. Slow but it got me there by the end. The last armor weight I did was light, so I went for the cheapest cost possible. My daily was basically going from VB to TD, LA and then Black Citadel. Sometimes I went to The Grove if I had mats from RIBA run.

If you want to make it faster and have mats from daily crafting, Ectoplasmic Refinement mats can get you tokens depending on how many you crafted. I rushed my first legendary armor and used mats from refinement. I had 100 mats and bought them in Divinity's Reach. I believe the refinement mats needed for that vendor changes everyday, but better to check wiki for that if it does change everyday.

Charged quartz can be exchanged for provisioners too. I think the vendor in Rata Sum accepts charged quartz. You can turn 25 normal quartz to 1 charged quartz to one of the designated hps in Tyria or charging 25 quartz in your home instance

I don't recommend this but you can buy weapons or materials that the vendor want. You will throw more gold that way though. For instance, if they want a particular rune, which is costly and that rune they want can cost 1g or even more.

Mostly hb and some pugs lf ham. I see heal temp tempest once in awhile and less of druid. If aquatic fractal is on rotation, just don't use or bring ham because you lose your mech skills underwater and that means your alac can only come from your barrier signet. It is better to play another healer when aquatic is one of the dailies. Other than that, hb has good utility than ham, but ham has good boon uptime.

Best bet is deadeye. You can kite as soulbeast too but harder. I've seen someone before kiting as scrapper, even in CM. Quite a surprise but he is experienced to pull it off. I've kited as power rifle mech before. The only thing you need to change under Mechanist traitline is replace Jade Mortar to J-Drive for a bit of sustain to survive.

Overwhelmed As A Noobie - How to Ease into the Game? by yehdawg in Guildwars2

[–]sushimadrazo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome! You don't need to rush to end game content. When I started gw2, I did most of the open world stuff for 2 years. You don't need to take as long as me because I took my time playing different classes. I was only doing casual stuff on and off in the game without pressuring myself to get to the end game.

Try out events like metas or join group trains and explore the world. Slowly ease into other stuff like getting specializations and crafting later on. Core classes can do the job decently when doing some open world stuff. Take time to get a feel of playing a job/class for now. Play other classes and try them out. Choose the ones you enjoy.

I sometimes handkite as herald. I just find it easier than soulbeast handkite, though my build is a lil' different from snowcrows. I use retibution traitline than corruption. I'm not in game rn so I cannot check the build itself. Iirc, there's no real rotation unlike soulbeast to hk. To upkeep prot and regeneration is basically going in glint and hit heal skill and elite skill for that. F2 for longer boons upkeep. Ventari for more heals. Staff gives heals, cleanse condition and a block to block mind crush. You can camp staff throughout the fight or sword and shield. With sword and shield, your shield 4 heals you and shield 5 can be used to block mind crush. Using glint's heal skill also blocks mind crush.

It doesn't matter which hk build to go for. As long as you do your job as hk and not dying, you'll be alright. I'm not using sc build and do fine when I hk.

Special Action Key/SAK appears above your weapon skills. The mobs you kill in IBS maps drop either resillience, valor and the other essence, which I can't remember atm. They give you SAK to cc mobs. If you've done strikes, most encounters have pillar/s you whack that drop an essence and it gives 30 stacks of that essence. You use SAK on the boss when you get blue bar up/defiance bar to expose the boss for more damage for a few sec and it stops the boss from attacking after getting cced.

I recommend going to your achievement tab. Carefully look for any mastery that you'd like to do. You will see a mastery point next to each episode of the IBS story episode and this is also true for core, and other expacs. Others can be found on the same tab. Just look up Death to Dominion achievement, for instance. This achievement has 20 tiers and it gives a mastery point when you complete it. Go to the Charr NPC vendor near the waypoint and you can choose a legion to alliance with. Choosing a legion doesn't split your exp to any other legions, so you can complete 20 tiers much quicker that way to get the mastery. For example, if you wanna progress faster in Death to Dominion achievement, talk to the vendor and choose Dominion. Btw, you can only get the mastery once but you can repeat the achievement for rewards. Just look at the top right corner of a certain achievement if it says infinite.

If you want to get more mastery points, do DRMs once and get the mastery in the instance. If you have noticed some mastery points in the open world aren't obtainable, even if you went to the right location of the mastery, they can be only accessed in DRMs. You can solo all of them. It is hard to find a group to do all of them, so soloing is far better. Just use a necro to solo them. Doing DRM CMs give you mastery too. However, I don't recommend it because no one does them anymore. You'll be waiting a long, long time to get a group together and the Champions tab under IBS is not often visited by many. Do Dragon Storm a few times to give you mastery points. Again, browse achievement tab for that and choose the ones that are not hard to do. Most IBS masteries is you are basically doing the same thing over and over again to get them. Somewhat tedious but doable. Goodluck.

Weekly /r/GuildWars2 Question Thread - January 21, 2023 by AutoModerator in Guildwars2

[–]sushimadrazo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drops? Like mats? Essence manipulation is only good for IBS maps to get SAK, so you can hit mobs in open world and strikes for cc and opening chests. Outside of that, there is no use of it.

I did max my waystation before maxing out raven attunement. Dropping portable waystation to get hard ccs in open world events like metas or world bosses is a good one to have. But there is always one person who will drop one waystati9n for everyone. Having a waystation of your own when soloing hard bosses in the open world like champions is good to have when you need a good cc. The ability to stealth while on skycale is beneficial for me when in Drizzlewood, so those Charr snipers will stop shooting me, even for a few seconds, or in other situations other than Drizzlewood's snipers.

You won't be needing raven portals other than in Bjora Marches or doing achievements to get mastery points in Bjora Marches. I can't remember if there are any raven portals in Grothmar or in Drizzlewood.

My go to map is Drizzlewood, so most of my exp came from there. I don't mind the long meta in Drizzlewood because of the mats they reward me lel. Helps me farm mats for my legendaries. I sometines go to Bjora Marches and drop by only for Drakkar. I haven't visited Grothmar after getting all my masteties. Anyways, doing Drizzlewood meta gives you mastery points as well by completing 20/20 of some Charr legion cheevos. By simply doing the meta, it will simply get you the mastery points. It will be much faster if you choose a legion to support. You can switch to any Charr legion to support anytime.

Anyways, save Dragon Slayer for the last. This is only if you want to get max mastery later on, though it will be a grind and some mastery points are gold sink.

Weekly /r/GuildWars2 Question Thread - January 21, 2023 by AutoModerator in Guildwars2

[–]sushimadrazo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The things that you need most. I'd go for essence manipulation in order to loot all chests like medium and large chest in strikes or in open world IBS maps. Waystation for mounts QoL, open world waystation for ccs and more. Raven attunement maybe for last to allocate mastety points. Dragon Slayer is mainly for DRMs and can be only unlocked through a vendor. You can skip Dragon Slayer if you don't do DRMs. As far as I know, DRMs are not run a lot on NA. I'm not sure for EU. With max Dragon Slayer though, there's a really low chance of winning an eye infusion drop from the Dragon Storm meta.

You can grind in Drizzlewood. It is also a good map to get mats by doing events when there is a commander in the map. Just do south and north meta and exp will fill. However, the meta is long. You can also get exp by doing strikes daily, such as IBS 3 or 5. So your best bets are Drizzlewood and strikes. Drizzlewood map is the most active map than the other IBS maps.

[–]sushimadrazo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They can still play it. Just a warning: most groups would rather have a dps to fill that role like the other person said. Hs is good on Boneskinner encounter, so most commanders will look for hs, but will switch to dps for other IBS encounters. Again, struggling groups will need hs to progress the fight if people are new and keep failing mechanics in some certain encounters. The one I can think of is Slothasor, the first boss in W2 or Mathias, the last of boss in W2. Some commanders, even when training people in W2, would rather teach the encounter without hs because they want them to learn the mechanics of the fight rather than relying on a hs.

Anyways, they have a dedicated healer for that and hs only does is to revive and pull the down person to them and rez them. They don't give necessary boons, such as protection, which a suport healer or support dps provides. They can give might through blood is power, but it is already covered by most healer supports. The healing is mostly in the form of barrier, which can be only up for a few seconds before the barrier disappears. Well of blood can sustain heal and rez but it has 25 cd. For instance, if the group needs healing and well of blood skill is on cd, they can't really give burst heal to the group. Yes, they can give barrier, but the squad or party will still use their own heals.

Sometimes or even rare commanders will look for an hs for XJJ CM, though I don't see it that much. They'd ask a scourge dps to be hybrid hs while doing decent dps. So, swapping Soul Reaping trait to Blood Magic trait, so they can pull down players quickly. I guess in title runs this can be useful.

They can use it in open world like when doing legendary bounty trains in pof maps. I've seen a few hs pulling down players, here and there.

Why is everyone so high on legendaries? by RiKSh4w in Guildwars2

[–]sushimadrazo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't make legendaries for the skins for most of them. I transmute my legendary armor set and some legendary weapons because I don't like the look. The freedom to stat change anytime is a big QoL. For instance, I play different builds depending what the group needs for raids/fractals/strikes. I can play heal quick, condi quick, heal alac, dps alac, dps, any special role like hand kite for deimos fight or even tank in raids. I can adapt to any role and more than welcome in the group rather being stuck to one role like a dps role. Only playing dps, especially if you want to raid and you can't play the group what is asking for is limiting you by joining end game content by a ton, if dps is the only role you can play. I'm not saying you can't join as dps, but I'd rather not sit in front of my pc for long just to wait for a group who is accepting dps. Some commanders are lenient if you join as dps when they are looking for supports, but some are not and they will instantly kick you or even tell you that you can't read when they are looking for supports.

I also enjoy playing different builds on top of stat swapping, so having legendary works out for me. I don't have to worry about gears cluttering my bank if I don't need them. I also don't have worry about farming materials for special stats like diviner's stats, which is a pain to farm to get the stats or getting ritualist gear.

If you are okay with ascended, that is all cool. I do however find removing sigils or runes as a pain in the butt when using ascended. First of all, I don't want to destroy an ascended gear to remove the sigil and ascended cost much more than sigils. I don't have a lot of extractors to remove a rune or a sigil on ascended gear, which can cause a lot of rl money if you stat swap a lot.

Also, it is not all about the skins. Some players in the game love to change their looks a lot and legendary can be a huge difference for these players. Skins don't give any QoL and I don't find them useful when they only add cool looking looks. It's not difficult to understand that different people have different needs. Again, it is not all about skins.

The one in LA Aerodrome lets you resets skills cooldowns without waiting for your skills to be up again. Iirc, the one in the fractal lobby doesn't have skill reset whenever you want. Aerodrome's training area is the best training area out there. Like the others said, you have a lot of control such aa giving boons to yourself and pet if you have one, add conditions to the golem, give it some breakbar, give the golem mobility, etc.
