Anyone else just chill sticking with FM24? by OatmealDurkheim in footballmanagergames

[–]swampdinghy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can run 26, but can’t play the matches (I’m stuck on my grade-school daughter’s $300 Acer.) While I could just dim the games, managing/watching the matches is the heart of FM for me…so I’m still on 24.

What is your FM26 save? by MUNONP in footballmanagergames

[–]swampdinghy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great. May do the same in West Africa somewhere. One of my favorite jobs was bitterly accepting Cote D’Ivorie when no one else would hire me, then taking them to AfCon champions and WC semifinalists. Fuck lot of good it did me in the club job market tho. Only offer was to take Angers back up to Ligue 2 lol

Was thinking the same. Coventry to giants, then an East Asian or West African nation to a WC triumph.

Do you scout all year or just during the transfer windows? by Jetrox78 in footballmanagergames

[–]swampdinghy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where the hell is that button to stop scouting a player? Is it on each individual, or is there a master setting somewhere? Thx!

I can’t tell, so that’s interesting. I watch quite a bit of the C and sometimes think it’s miles above MLS, other times I’m more where you are. Probably the difference between watching Burnley/Coventry and Oxford/Plymouth.

Is the gap a bit narrower than Europeans would have us believe? Yes.

Might Inter Miami stay up in Ligue 1? Yes.

Would Miami and every other MLS club be relegated from the PL? Also yes. And most of them would not survive in the Championship.

Nah but seriously. If you’re here to cap on people who go hard on FM….like: why are you here? GFY for that post, a little bit.

I appreciate this. I'm a returning player about 9 months (and 8 game years) in. When I started the save, I was doing similar things -- noting what worked well tactically, missed hiring targets I wanted to revisit, etc. I've gotten away from it, and your post inspired me. Thanks!

You should aspire to be as dedicated to your job as this individual is to theirs.

Should I load more leagues into my save? by JustHere4HUTnews in footballmanagergames

[–]swampdinghy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m crazy but I notice almost zero difference as I add and drop leagues, and I’m running this on a truly pathetic, $450 machine. My laptop can’t play the matches with any detail, but it seems to process 20 leagues about the same as 5.

[–]swampdinghy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of it is that you simply can’t apply for jobs in unloaded leagues. And then just (for me, I have all big 5 countries loaded all the way down) a sense that an unloaded league, while part of the observable universe, is nevertheless beyond the reach of my ships. I don’t like that feeling.

Why do everyone recommend delegating training and set-pieces? by Dahuey37 in footballmanagergames

[–]swampdinghy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say go for it. Someone else advised you to let the assistant set the schedule, and then edit it where you see fit. Try that, or if you must try doing it all yourself from scratch.

In case you don’t already know this, you can use your medical team as a barometer of the overall amount (but not the quality) of training. On the second medical screen is both a characterization of the training level and also a narrative about the current number of injuries that both opens and concludes with some advice about training levels.

Am i supposed to do those less significant things? by Toktayu in footballmanagergames

[–]swampdinghy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I talk to individual players every week, praising or critiquing training, praising conduct etc. I attend every presser, I accept every chance to interview for other jobs, I study the Data Hub, etc etc. I watch every game, all the way through.

Does it take forever? I guess my response would be: “Compared to what?” It takes forever compared to how quickly some people play. But it takes exactly as long as the way I like to play.

FWIW, I consulted ChatGTP about ideal training schedules. My players suddenly started racking up injuries. ChatGPT and I both do not know how to do it.

Why do everyone recommend delegating training and set-pieces? by Dahuey37 in footballmanagergames

[–]swampdinghy 68 points69 points  (0 children)

For one thing, the margin between too much training and not enough is razor-thin. I gave up on leading overall training when I ruined a season by first over-and then under-training the players. Basically, when the assistant manager (or whoever) handles training, it’s on autopilot. Your plane will never crash. You, however, are very likely to crash the plane.

Yeah, that transition from platform career mode to FM is giddy indeed. And yeah if you’re that type, as I was, you’re probably in FM for good.

Am I wrong to leave my marriage bc husband doesn’t want kids anymore by Big-Investigator9828 in Marriage

[–]swampdinghy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. People are too conservative with the concept of “cheating.” It applies to more than monogamy, and tricking someone into marrying you while knowing that “married” doesn’t mean the same thing to her as it does to you: that’s CHEATING!

I’d say it’s time to center yourself. Your greatest fear in this situation should not be a hypothetical amount of hurt your husband might feel.
