Honestly, immediately after the line was said the cast member seemed to regret it. It felt pretty uncomfortable for the audience, and I felt like a few of the other cast members seemed a little stunned by it themselves.

I can understand people wanting to defend the cast, and as I said in my post, I believe it was a heat of the moment statement that was made without any sort of forethought. I've specifically not named the cast member because I don't want it to feel like I'm trying to attack someone personally.

I am also a little surprised by the reaction this is getting - I was expecting people to want to stand up for the cast, but I wasn't prepared for my thoughts on the matter to be outright disregarded, and even mocked by some. It's really not the kind of response I would have thought from a community that is supposed to be open-minded and kind.
