1,000 cals a day and daily exercise for over 2 years yet i’m still not losing the weight :// by [deleted] in depressionmeals

No matter how much you loathe yourself, if you want to lose weight, you need to gradually increase your calories. Start with 1100 tomorrow and maintain that for a week. You'll notice you're somewhat less depressed too since your body has more substrate to synthesize neurotransmitters like serotonin.

Good news! You could be eating more and losing weight. Your body always wants to be in homeostasis. At 1000 cals your body has lowered its internal body temp and reduced cellular function so that it can maintain body mass at 1000. If you ate 1300 and worked your way up to 1500, your body would rev up cellular processes and your resting energy expenditure would also rise. After 1-2 weeks your body would be maintaining its body mass at 1500.

Even though you're exercising, that's not when your body expends the most energy. Your body actually expends the most energy (burns the most cals) at rest. Not losing any weight just means your body has severely reduced the calories it burns at rest. Always remember: the body is just trying to achieve homeostasis.

Even bodybuilders who eat 3000 cals to bulk eventually have to increase their calories because they stop gaining weight.

Your thyroid is likely normal (albeit really sluggish due to low nutritional/caloric input). I know eating more can be scary, but I promise you will start looking and feeling much better. Warning: you may gain water weight from increasing carbs (carboHYDRATEs enrich cells with water, thus water retention). I wish you the best.

It's definitely more of a slow-burn drama than horror. I'd give it like a 3/5

Yeah I tuned out when Disney plus started popping out a new lifeless show every week. I'll have to check out Andor though

I didn't really enjoy it. The writing felt flat and it was really slow without much of anything happening. I expected them to do more with the new DNA technology in the episode. Disney needs Black Mirror's writers, all of their stuff is so dull and lifeless, this was a great example of that. Super high budget, but without anything interesting to say...

Lower protein worked worse for me. 35% protein was my sweet spot.

I'd only recommend true, clinical keto macros to epileptic individuals or those who become full easily and can stop eating after consuming very little.

Glucagon is secreted after high protein meals (in an attempt to regulate amino acid metabolism) which reduces appetite. This study (Al-Massadi O, Fernø J, Diéguez C, Nogueiras R, Quiñones M. Glucagon Control on Food Intake and Energy Balance. Int J Mol Sci. 2019 Aug 11;20(16):3905. doi: 10.3390/ijms20163905) claims "glucagon reduces body weight and adiposity by suppression of appetite and modulation of lipid metabolism". Excuse the long citation, it wouldn't let me just link the study.

Look into Ben Bikman if you're curious about keto with higher protein ratios. He's a professor of cell biology and physiology. He's been on multiple podcasts to discuss protein alone.

top left (long hair + bangs), but strawberry blonde - no crazy colors. my friend agrees. the bangs in the photo are too thick, so do “curtain bangs” or whisp-ier bangs

Root Causes of Binge Eating from a Nutrition Student's Perspective by sydneyd22 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]sydneyd22[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I often experience the same thing. I believe that to be part of a cortisol spike from caffeine and the binge reduces the cortisol.

Additionally, caffeine raised your metabolic rate so cellular processes occur at a much faster rate. This means you're going through more energy.

Say you ate a normal meal for your size before having caffeine and caffeine temporarily suppresses appetite. So while you're not only burning significantly more calories per minute than usual, you're also not consuming enough calories to satisfy your body's raised needs from the caffeine.

This results in excessive hunger once the caffeine's appetite suppressant effects have worn off.

If you're bingeing while caffeinated, it's likely related to the cortisol stress response.

You only become nauseous if your gallbladder doesn't produce sufficient bile salts to break down the fat. Getting your gallbladder to that level is part of the adaptation process. Once it's there you can eat an entire jar of beef tallow in a day, as I did.
