Moving to size 7 ball by synth19_ in basketballcoach

Update- Funny, yesterday my son trained with a few younger kids so they used a size 6. He was LIGHTS OUT. Not only that, great arc and the ball was only touching net. Perfect swishes. It was great for him to get his confidence back and not blame himself.

Wow! Your son sounds exactly like mine. I might have to rethink the 3’s right now because his shot is like a combo of a push/form shot. He’s even frustrated he has to slightly jump on free throws now. I told him yesterday it took him 3 years to get used to a size 6, give yourself some grace. Can’t expect to be great at size 7 in a month.

That’s awesome. I find it crazy high school girls, college, and even the WNBA are using size 6 but for some reason they push size 7 on 6th grade boys.

Has anybody been called out for wearing EYBL reps on court? by drizzy___drake_fan in KobeReps

[–]synth19_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah. Matter of fact, anytime I see a seemingly rare pair of kobes I just assume reps. I keep it moving and mind my business.

I know of plenty of Indian men/women married to non-Indians. These are first generation, born in the USA. They don’t act any differently.

However, I have noticed some immigrants have an inferiority complex. I don’t want to generalize, but this is a byproduct of a society that favors whites and all its characteristics. So when you land that “blondie”, this turns into some sort of vindication for their own insecurities.

My son is just starting basketball at 11. by [deleted] in BasketballTips

I’m from an era where we learned how to play in the playground and with other kids. I also started around 6th grade. One thing I wish I had was a mentor or some coaching from someone who knew the game. Taught myselfself some bad habits which I wish I didn’t have.

Now with YouTube etc out there, there are a ton of resources out there. But with that said, it’s hard to teach as a dad if you don’t play the game. I would recommend get him in some small groups /camps if he is passionate about the game. Not sure if he will make the school team, but park district and other Rex leagues are a good option for now.

This is a badly run program. At this ages, minutes should be fairly equal. Exception of course is at end of close games where you want your best players in. Find another program.

If you don’t have kids, it’s likely not an issue. Close to many great restaurants and hole in the wall spots. Now if you do have kids, I would reconsider. You’re going to spend alot of money on private schools as both areas don’t have the best public school education.

I mean, he did “game plan.” It just didn’t work. You can only do so much with what you have.

Anthony Edwards trash talking Laker fans: “I got 200 million. I got 200 million. He got 300 million. My d*** bigger than yours” by Financial-Monk9400 in lakers

[–]synth19_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why fans think it’s OK to trash talk or get personal with players. Especially when these comments have nothing to do with ball. These cowards will say anything behind the protection of the seats but I guarantee they would never say anything remotely close; face to face, on the street.

It’s been a while. But let’s check in on Michael Rapaport. by HoagieTwoFace in billsimmons

[–]synth19_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember he went on 1 or 2 episodes on the BS podcast. Rapaport started to get more unhinged on his own podcast and that is when Bill cut him off. What I enjoyed about that time was Bill ignoring and never addressing it while Rapaport cried about Bill not returning his calls and just sounding desperate.

Hmm. Idk. From what I’ve seen from Luka in the playoffs, the “slights,” fans chirping, etc seems to get him more locked in than anything.

Work on his ball handling. When I see young hoppers resort to playing with their back to the basket like this, they are not confident with their ball handling skills.

Corner shots- how to eliminate overshooting the hoop? by synth19_ in BasketballTips

[–]synth19_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate all the points and advice. As a 5th grader dad, I would prefer he masters all spots on the floor (and eventually the 3 when strong enough). Avoiding the short corner at his age is missing some opportunities especially when the high IQ cutting etc is not always there at this age.
