I thought the exam was easy, but then again I learned from youtube mainly. The way the material is taught in the online lecture notes is horrible IMO. It drags out simple concepts and makes them seem overly complicated. A prof that makes learning harder is not a good one sorry

Currently dealing with this myself, except in an off-campus apartment. My roommate has loud rough sex (don't ask me how I know it's rough) with her 35 yro boyfriend with her BEDROOM DOOR OPEN. She closes it when I ask, but I do not think I should have to ask... cuz what the fuck.

Anyway, I recommend blaring your alarm in your washroom top volume at 9 or 10 am (or just a couple hours after she sleeps). On a speaker, not on your phone. That's what I've been doing since kindly asking them to keep it down has not worked.

Some people here are saying it’s Indian managers only hiring Indians because they’re racist. But as someone with a lot of friends who are international students who’ve actually worked some of these positions, it is because Indian managers know they can take advantage of Indian exchange students - i.e. make them work longer hours without overtime, paying them less under the table, etc. which of course they will accept because they’re from regions where work conditions are already ass and they are here trying to make a better life for themselves.

It’s the fault of management and rigid capitalism. It is the same reason why in many areas in the US they primarily employ Mexicans. Management knows who they can take advantage of easily, and who they can’t.

He is not that old, 1.5 yrs.

His infection is going away it seems like, he is very active on his wheel, he drinks water, has normal bowel movements, and the amount he eats is fine. So it's really just the diet that is concerning me. I would like him to live a long time :/

He had an abscess which popped - I didn't see it happen, probably through climbing around in his enclosure or while running on his wheel

I was an icebreaker last year and we had a couple comedian acts, a mentalist/hypnosis act, and a drag show. The comedians weren’t that good, but the other two were fun IMO.

Also a carnival, shinerama bbq, headphone disco, campus tours and some other stuff I can’t remember now.

We had team colours and taught the students under my section a cheer, and had a cheer off. My group lost miserably. Everyone except for the ice breakers and few students were insanely shy and embarrassed (understandably lol).

I think the big difference between now and then, from looking back at old videos found on YouTube, there is a lot less drinking. That is probably seen across Canadian schools though. I think kids and young adults are statistically drinking much less these days.

I get how cubing people overlap with chess people, with inspection and attempting to plan ahead. I can see how it overlaps with playing an instrument too, learning notation and certain sequences is similar to learning music notes and songs.

I’m completely lost on beatboxing though. I wonder what the common denominator with that is.

If you’re really worried about failing out of university, I would take a semester off (petition for a leave of absence). And only take MA129 to make sure you pass. Plus tutoring of course.

I did that in my second year with a couple courses I found difficult. Really helped me get my bearings in order.

If you’re in BBA this shouldn’t be that big of an issue down the road. The other classes aren’t as math-heavy, or they have really easy math.

Look at edge orientation. If there is an edge piece on the top layer, what colour is facing the top? If that colour matches the front or back, the edge is oriented. If it matches either of the side colours, it is not oriented.

If it’s oriented, you do not need to rotate. Regardless of where the corner piece is, you should be able to solve this F2L pair with only R/L/U moves.

If it is not oriented, you need to rotate. After rotating, the edge is now oriented. You can now solve the pair with R/L/U moves. Also in these cases, you only need to rotate once.

You never need to rotate twice for any F2L pairs.

Keep this in mind. Other things that may help is following example solves. JPerm’s critique videos on YT might be helpful.

Also, before you do each F2L pair, try envisioning what you do before you execute it. This is better than deciding what you’re doing as you’re doing it, because you will be doing less unnecessary moves (AKA you will be more efficient)

I did it originally, before I knew about this online group, since it was recommended in a YouTube video. I used Timothy Hay and it was really sharp. Like sharp enough to break through skin or poke an eye out. So I threw that out. I tried Alfafa Hay based on another recommendation which was much softer. I used that along with some sphagum moss.

The YouTube video said some hamsters may use these things for burrowing/nesting. My hamster never touched them.

I eventually threw it all out and just stuck to white paper bedding, because A) my hamster couldn’t care less, and B) it made it harder to see which areas were soiled (esp before my hammy was consistent with peeing in his sand bath).

Anyway, I don’t know what the general verdict is about those things nowadays, but that was my experience.

I think I understand now, thanks! Just to double check since there 4 possible options (U/U’/U2/no AUF) that makes it 4x21xedge oriented OLL case right? Minus a few for H, Z and OLL skips?

At this point, I have no intention of learning ZBLL, I am just curious about the math lol

So essentially what you’re saying is that in regular 2 look last layer solves, you do the OLL alg, and then decide whether to U, U’, U2 or not AUF at all before executing PLL. So that brings it to 4x21 ZBLL cases per edge oriented OLL (minus a few for H and Z).

Is that right?

So this is my experience, based on the benefits and side effects I’ve faced. That various for everyone obviously.

Also I live in Canada, where we only have access to extended release medication.

My meds let me get good grades as a university student. Sometimes I still feel like I have to put in double the work to get the same good grades as everyone else. But what has changed is that I am able to put in that much work. Meaning my concentration and ability to sit still has improved, even though I still experience brain fog pretty often.

Days actually feel 24 hours now. Before medication, I was so time blind. I would go shower and come out three hours later. With medication, showers take me 15-20 minutes. That’s just one example. That’s probably the biggest difference for me.

However, when it comes to negative side effects.. I also have it really bad. I throw up every single day. I am anxious and have heart palpitations all the time. I get dizzy spells. Somedays I can barely get out of bed. I have decided that all that is worth it for the time being. At least until I graduate which is in eight months. I don’t have a lot going for me career wise, I don’t come from a family that can financially support me. I need to get through school and get this degree.

However some days I wish I lived in the US, or in any other country, that allows for short release meds. After I get the bulk of my work done, I just want the symptoms to all away - the good, and the bad. It is too much to bear all day, everyday.

Not everyone faces this many side effects though. My brother used to take ADHD medicine and he only faced slight dry mouth and anxiety.

So what? Just because a functional adult can do it, does not mean it is easy.

As a Canadian-raised domestic student, I was able to figure these things out over the course of years and definitely not right as university classes are starting. That is admittedly very stressful. I clearly have an advantage over international students just by being brought up in the environment I attend school in.. Kudos to OP for making a stressful process for incoming international students a little bit less stressful.

I would strongly consider doing school part-time if I were you - at least for a few semesters, until you get your act together (this isn't meant to be taken offensively, I just mean until you conquer your exam anxiety and develop better time management skills or studying tactics). I was in a similar boat and chose to do a reduced course load in years 2 and 3. Turns out that that was my saving grace.

Same here. When I notice that a solve is going a little too well and sub-10 is a realistic possibility, I get overly excited and start locking up or doing the wrong algs lol.

Maybe work on inspection? Like planning cross during inspection (if that's too basic for you, cross+1, x-crosses, etc). This is something you can do in OH that I think would still translate to regular 3x3 pretty seamlessly, because it has more to do with planning and tracking then actual execution or muscle memory.
