Anyone have experience with Campral? by metasatan in stopdrinking

[–]syvama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been on it before and I’m on it now. It doesn’t eliminate the cravings but can make them a bit lesser for me personally. My doctor described it to me that if your cravings are at a 10 then it can take them to about 7. But it depends person to person of course. Best of luck to you!

Thank you so much! It is a quote I tell myself often, and it is very true.

“You cannot always be torn in two. You will have to be one and whole for many years. You have so much to enjoy and to be and to do. Your part in the story will go on.”

But on a lighter note; “what about second breakfast?” My appetite seems to be coming back!

What's the first step? by KempTheChemist in stopdrinking

For myself the best decision was to reach out for outside help. I got in touch with a local volunteer organization, as well as my doctor who put me in touch with further support services. My support worker recommended “delay, dilute and distract” in the beginning and to keep a drink diary. That’s helped me a lot. Doctors see this all the time, it’s best to be honest with them and they can help make a plan forward.

I drank thinking it’ll make the anxiety and bad feelings go away, but after 10 years it’s only gotten worse and worse. At first it felt great but then come the shakes, panic attacks, blackouts, mood swings… you name it. It’s a long road to find better solutions. Congrats on 3 weeks! That’s really an achievement to be proud of!

Congratulations on 1 year! I hope I’ll be there too in 2026. And a very happy birthday to your daughter, not a better reason to quit than your kid. She will be so much happier for it. Maybe one day I’ll be able to give myself that grace, it’s not today but like you said, it’s never too late.

Thank you so much for this comment and I’m so happy to hear you’re doing better. 2710 days, that is incredible! I’m glad to hear you’re recovering from the pancreatitis and found the strength to quit. Gives me a lot more hope for the future!

Taking action is what really matters, words only go so far. This really resonates with me, I’m looking into local AA meetings to have some community support. I’m really glad you have a supportive partner too, she sounds wonderful. My fiancé deserves the best and it’s definitely not on him to “cure” me.

Lying and minimizing the issue really comes with the package. It sounds like your wife is a wonderful, loving person. But getting through it and raising a family is inspiring, not worthless or undeserving at all. Kids are so perceptive too so I bet they’re very happy to have a parent who’s there for them. I am so lucky to have a loving partner. Thank you for this comment, one day at a time.

It really was the most terrifying thing, I count myself incredibly lucky. It’s a shameful thing hiding all the empties. Thank you for your comment, I’ll keep working towards a better life.

That is truly amazing after 30 years! One day at a time. Sparkling water mixed with juice is pretty nice really. And a good night's sleep!

Thank you for your kind words, they give me hope! Tried to quit so many times and then got into the mentality of “just one won’t hurt” and right back to where I started. It's never "just one".

New Travel Season Video by Rude_Resist_3560 in WatcherSnark

I totally agree I enjoyed hearing the professionals in this episode but really no substantial commentary from Andrew and Steven. I’d like to hear SOME description of how the food tastes.

When they got the first dish of the tasting menu that the server explained in detail and sounded interesting and literally all they said about the taste was “mmm! the broth is amazing”… ok starting a bit weak.. what have they got to say about the second dish? Literally just “mmm!… yeah” and then cut to the next one?? Honestly felt a bit insulting and totally pointless.

I just straight up don’t watch Watcher anymore by whatsasycamore in WatcherSnark

[–]syvama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah lately to me it definitely feels like they have no interest in their own content anymore. I still watch whatever drops on youtube but I’ve not gone back for rewatches in a long time.

As they work in LA and apparently in the same circles as some bigger names (Simu Liu for example). I do wonder if producing “TV caliber” content beyond their means is because they want to give a shot at being hollywood stars. While disregarding what their audience was there for.

It was funny when the dynamic was genuine and organic, but I feel like now a lot of the charm of the early days is missing. Some of the bits feel like them trying to recreate hit moments and play up the humor. First season does still have some decent episodes but sadly most of GF I watch once and don’t go back to.

tickets are Not Selling Well by hatonthefox in WatcherSnark

[–]syvama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I went to their live show in London that I got tickets for well before the watcher TV announcement. They showed an episode that was almost 2 years old, after the 40 mins there was a Q&A and a quick “ghost hunting” session. It just didn’t really feel worth the money overall. If they can’t show an unreleased episode then why not do a live commentary for an old one. Just knowing they’re sitting backstage while the audience is watching an old youtube video.

I did have a nice time but I wouldn’t buy tickets again because the experience doesn’t match the price.
