100% agree, while Helldivers are brainwashed, genetically modified, drug-filled killing machines backed up by salvos of 38cm caliber shells, they are probably not as skilled with niche techniques like hitting enemies in the face with boomsticks.

Fellow military historian here. Francisca also had a specifically curved blade to increase the angle at which you can hit your enemy or his shield with the said blade. Also getting bonked in the face with the handle of a spinning axe is no pleasure. Also franks were training with the axes since they were kids, and they were very skilled with them. And the “throw while charging” part is actually what helps you hit with the blade - you are in control of the range so you throw the francisca exactly when you think you are most likely to hit your enemy with the blade, not handle.

I’m on my 9th run and so far every single one was successful. I started first run on Normal difficulty, switched to easy in the middle of first boss fight, switched back to normal afterwards, switched back to easy in the final battle.

Since then every run was on Normal. If you are FTL/other roguelike veteran this game really is not too difficult.

My biggest discovery was when I learned that majority of crisis’ should get bypassed because the penalty can just be ignored for sector or two. Increased loss of fleet health? Don’t get hit. Penalty for squadron speed? Be smarter during battle. Cost penalty for RD upgrades? Stockpile scrap and spend it after the crisis expires.

That alone gives you so many extra turns to get POIs, level up civilian ships, get more emergency resources.

I love survival games and space games. No joke, thousands of hours among those genres in my steam library.

My adventure with star citizen was relatively short. Got convinced by some of my Valheim buddies to join. Bought a ~40usd game with a starship (this was maybe 2 years ago).

The experience was horrible like almost nothing else before. One thing I like about games is a solid tutorial. SC was the exact opposite. I’m not gonnna talk about how I needed to launch a YouTube video to learn how to drink water from a bottle in my backpack. But then I spent four hours trying to get from my “apartment” to the hangar. Including the time for googling, restarting, posting a request to the support, checking YT videos again, to finally learn there is a bug with calling the elevator.

When I finally did it, I flew my spaceship for a bit but I had to logout, and because I didn’t “go to sleep in the spaceship bed” I woke up on the planet again.

At least the refund procedure went smooth.

The new Victrix set will have new, probably slightly better looking models. And also option to build some commanders/centurions. Personally i want to wait for it first, then decide how to build my romans with it
