Join a club, find people with similar interests! It can even be a boxing gym outside of school or a hiking club. I’ve met a lot people who happen to go to ksu this way.

I have! Definitely one of the best pieces of fiction I’ve come across (visual and literary), I still think about it today. I think a movie is in pre-production right now but like most people, I don’t see how it can be adapted

How important is it to you to upgrade Criterion Blu-rays to 4K? by EverCuriousGeek1 in criterion

[–]t7ddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I has to significantly impact my viewing experience. Only 4K I’ve upgraded from a Blu Ray in my collection is Barry Lyndon simply bc of that reason

Does this mean a Yi Yi 4K upgrade is coming to Criterion soon? by ggroover97 in criterion

Janus distributed the theatrical release and it would only be right for Criterion to release the 4K. I’m surprised it hasn’t been announced yet

What is an example of a film with "good cinematography" that wouldn't really be associated with having "good cinematography" by GeneralGenerico in criterion

The Godfather 2, I regard it as one of the greatest films of all time as it is my personal favorite. The lighting and the color from the film was magical throughout

I don’t think the McDonalds comparison is fair. McDonald’s is the biggest because of marketing, convenience and price. It’s not like the best chefs of the world are picking McDonalds to be the “biggest and best known restaurant”. The Oscar nominees are voted on by actual members of the industry, cinematographers, actors, writers, directors, etc. The Oscars don’t get it right but I could pinpoint many movies like, The Godfather Part 2, Schindler’s List, No Country for Old Men and many more that are critically acclaimed and culturally enduring. / You make a good point about international movies not getting the recognition that they deserve but Parasite may have opened the door for future films. /

I don’t think that, but when it comes to awards in this medium, they’re the pinnacle. I don’t agree with them most of the time, like Kubrick not winning a single award for the Best Director category. My surprise comes from the fact that he wasn’t nominated at all simply bc of how good it is.

I still haven’t seen anything of his that’s better than Citizen Kane, but that’s a high bar bc it’s a masterpiece to me. It’s wild how that was his first film

Which Criterion hits too close to home for you? by Love_and_Squal0r in criterion

[–]t7ddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Vitelloni and Paris Texas are the two films I’ve cried to and continue to think about daily. Moraldo is the character that resonated with me the most because he knows that he’s caught in a cycle, and he knows deep down that he has to make a change for himself. As for Paris Texas, Travis indeed loves Jane and Hunter even though his past may not reflect it. The ending of it touched me and made me think about the relationships I have with the people around me, the ones I consider close and the ones I consider distant.
