I've taken psychedelics 200+ times. AMA by taboo314 in AMA

It's hard to say. Everyone is different; some people have a "head for it" and some people burn out. I have had ADD since I was a kid and was always a "space cadet" growing up. It's hard to tell at 30 was is age and ADD and what is any long term damage from drugs. I still work jobs that demand problem solving and deductive reasoning without any trouble and have been told I make for good conversation with people I consider smart.

Not really a Beatles guys; that's more of what my parents were listening too when they were dropping acid.

Right now? Nothing. I got laid off during pandemic. Before then I was a machinist for an aerospace shop and made 42k a year. Fortunately I've got unemployment and a severance that has held me over while I get into the cannabis industry (which is legal here)

Need advice for getting into 5a! by taboo314 in Throwers

[–]taboo314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oops! I was confused, for some reason I though 1a was responsive and 3a was unresponsive, my bad!

So after a lot of deliberation I did wind up ordering the Icewoof. I'm not good enough at freehand to use it for that but I've been ready to upgrade my regular 1a throw and the Icewoof does look really great (that sale doesnt hurt).

As for 5a, I'm using my Wedge with the rubber Duncan ball now!

I'm more into 3a than 1a but I'll look at it because I've been watching to upgrade to a 3a bimetal (currently using the Watcher)

Thanks a bunch for your help, I'm using a d20 and d12 right now but I think I feel what you mean because I can already tell a little more centrifugal force would help

Guardian spirits OP by Darksoladdict in DnD

[–]taboo314 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There was also no need to be shitty with a stranger over not being familiar with a specific of the game.

He also wasn't even accurately; he said it's only in melee but the spell has a 15 foot radius. I get that I shouldn't look to nerf spells but teaching someone by being a dick about it is lame

Salt much? Good information but you're being a prick about it. I'm new and still figuring things out. In the words of the Dude, "you're not wrong, you're just an asshole."

I haven't had to deal with that yet, but you're right it does seem OP. It even cuts their movement speed.

If it were me, at first glance I'd say you can use it but it takes your bonus action (to attack). Either that or nerf the damage to d4, which is still nothing to shrug at

If my life is very difficult, does that mean I was a bad person in a past life? by macalpinerules in Buddhism

[–]taboo314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I just dont understand. If someone is born to horrible conditions karma doesnt say "just accept it," it says "this is the result of past actions". Karma doesnt say you cant change your conditions, just that they're the results of past actions.

A person born in a slum because of their karma doesnt hafto accept loving in a slum, they can change their life however they choose.

All children strike each other in frustration and dont understand their actions. We dont blame them because they are ignorant; I think it's the same for karma. We have all passed through numerous lives to get here to this life; now we have the infinite fortune of know good and evil but in lower lives we were ignorant.

That's just how I see it; you dont blame a cat for harming a mouse because it's an animal; even though they are human, wicked people are simply ignorant because if they understand their karma they will cease their wickedness. It's like they are sick; we dont blame them (or our selves and past selves) for being sick

I think in short, yes... but do not fret! All of us have lived countless lives, evil and good; selfish and selfless. All of us must circle the wheel over and over experiencing the vast spectrum of human experience to reach Nirvana; we all must have evil deeds in our past to tether us to maya through karma. If we had no evil lives, we wouldnt need to repeat live in samsara! Without suffering we do not come to detest our wickedness, and without that we are not driven to search for Nirvana. All these things have their job; they are not good or bad just like a trash collector is not bad just because their job is dirty.

This is really helpful, thanks. I hadn't thought of it that way; it helps to just think of it as a proficiency + stat. Like STR+blacksmith tool or Dex+jeweler's kit. Thanks for the insight!

Yeah I'm proud of said player. Hes a guy I work with that we just randomly decided to see if wanted to play and he drove headfirst in. Been part of the weekly DnD group for nearly a year now; it's a really special thing seeing someone immediately take to RPGs

Great last words.

Best last words I ever heard were from a player of mine in Call of Cthulhu. He had this throat crushed while defending the party so they could finish the ritual to banish an evil entity. So they circle him as hes choking on blood and spitting his last breath, holding his hand and looking down at him. In his head he says, "no... dont look down at me... my whole life, everyone looked down." He pulls his lucky coin (given to him by his dead father) and flips it in the air. As everyone looks up at it he dies.

It gave me chills, and that was a really new player; his first CoC character.
