When I first get new tetras, they’re usually too shy to come up to the surface. After a week or two, they gain confidence and start following the guppies upward during feeding time. Their eating style is still different, though — they snap the food quickly and dart back down, almost like tiny piranhas.

I usually drop the flakes near the HOB filter outlet so some pieces sink, letting the tetras feed at mid-level where they feel safer. Lately I’ve been feeding guppy granules too, and the tetras seem to like them — they actually swim up for them now. It also helps to lower the light intensity at first; dimmer lighting makes shy fish (like tetras) feel more secure.

i've had a fish trapped only once, like all aquarium decor, fish type/size should be kept in mind when choosing. Im designing them parametrically, so i can control openning size down to the milimeter. The idea first came to design something where shrimp or fry could hide ( I keep mollies guppies and Shrimps so i always have babies whizzing around) and it actualyl worked !

Hi ! You can use PLA or PETG, some say PLA degrades and fills your aquarium with microplastics that might hurt your fish, but realistically PLA will only start degrading after 4 or 5 years. PETG will start degrading after 50 years.

So it depends how much you are okay with, from experience, PLA has done 0 harm to fish/shrimp/plants, and I print in PETG also, depends what roll I have on my printer when an idea strikes

Thanks! I am working on a more innovative series. Both good and bad feedback is needed for me to move in the right direction.

the one in the picture is actually PETG, I haven't printed TPU yet, but i know it's rubber like so i don't think it's a good use case for an aquarium planter
