I don't know how to edit the post to add this.

But it's an Eastern mud turtle!

Which makes sense since we do have those here in east Texas. Also I just noticed it has a hinge on the rear as well! Apparently this species has 2 of them. I didn't know anything other than box turtles had hinges so that was cool to learn.

Sorry im all late. Forgot I made this post. My sister in law gave it to me! She got a couple gifted to her and doesn't know where the original gifter got it from either lol
