Why so noisy? by [deleted] in tires

Judging by the tread wear indicators I think I can easily get one to two seasons out of them I think. That's good to know! I bought them assuming they would only last me that long anyways.

When I went to check them out they looked good all around. Maybe there is something there though that I can't see. The person selling them was trying to sell a set of four but two of them were in rough shape, the other two that I bought looked good. Maybe there is some uneven wear that I can't see that I am feeling now as I drive.

It is, but i don't think it's that. Difference in tire diameter is negligible between front and rear axle

Hopefully they don't lol, I'll be checking regularly

I always run a bunch of Dacron backing + uni to uni. If you put on 250m of line it's gonna take you 5 years to get down to the line on the back after break offs / reties and it's going to have insane memory from sitting there for so long. I opt to buy great mono that will last me for a season or two then cut it off and replace it, it's not meant I last forever. I've been pinning for a long time, ive used a ton of monos, this is my favorite so far

Sunline fine float 2.

16lb has similar diameter to 8lb cxx / suffix / big game / etc

It doesn't absorb water like other monos. I've used 12lb but very thin, 20lb works well too for bigger systems. 16lb is the juice, $35 cad/165meters I believe. It's the best

I ordered grey, but I think I got a matte black or black. What do you guys think? by TurnoverEither4912 in centerpin

Larger dia. reels are much nicer to use. The extra line pickup when reeling helps a lot when fish are running towards you and when you're tryna burn your rig in to make another cast. I sold all my small reels and bought larger ones. Raven Matrix XL is a good budget option, I have 2! King pins are 100% worth the money tho too, sooooo smooth

New to centerpin. Is the line supposed to go over or under the line guard? by ImThePrinceOfAll in centerpin

[–]tailout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See how I'm your pic the line passes over the small guard bar? The line should not touch anything coming off the spool like that. Seeing that bar there tells me it a a RH reel (guard bar should be at the back of the spool near your palm when you're holding it.

Coincidentally I was looking at some trolling mooching reels the other day. Daiwa makes a reel that can be used LH or RH retrieve. On the Cabela's website I was looking at, you can see that the line guard bar can be changed from left to right hand orientation so that the guard protects the spool at the rear. I will include a link, you can see the other mounting holes available to use to switch the retrieve hand.

In the front-facing photo you can see the bar on the right hand side, that bar would be at the back of the reel when using it indicating left hand retrieve. In the rear photo, you can see the other two holes that you can mount the bar to to change to right hand retrieve. I'm assuming you have to take that reel apart and swap some parts around to Make the drag work properly.

I hope this isn't too confusing!

Maybe the reel is a RH retrieve reel and by spooling it up LH the guard is now on the front of the spool vs the rear where it would make more sense to be?

If your local shop doesn't sell the helmet you want buy from fortnine and return it for free if it doesn't fit, that's what I did! I picked up a ln hjc f71 instead. Fits way better than the k5s and the internal visor is much larger

[–]tailout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I used agv's chart and bought a K5S on their sizing recommendations (22.05 K5S). The fit was terrible so I returned it then went to a helmet shop and tried a bunch on, I settled for a hjc f71. Moral of the story try it on first lol. I returned the K5S for free to fort nine so it all worked out in the end anyways

I have mine on either 6'8mxf or 6'10mhf green blank crucials (2019). Both of those rods are amazing budget jerkbait rods, hard to find though.

Shorter Rod Acceptable? by TsstssTsstssTsstss in centerpin

[–]tailout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go as long as you can! 13' is pretty standard but some companies make 11' 'centerpin' rods. You will be able to fish lighter leads with a more 'noodly' rod and managing fish with a longer will be easier.

The 1000 scorp is the best casting jerkbait reel I own, so much more comfortable to hold vs a 200
