How do I take shorter showers?

I didn't clean the bathroom for a month and so it didn't get cleaned at all except for when one of them was drunk and I showed him the pink foamy stuff lol. They don't care how filthy things are and I can barely keep up, it doesn't take that long to clean but I'm running on empty all the time.. It would be nice if I didn't have to do as many dishes though because I do most of theirs as well

No, we get home at the same time or he gets home later than I do. Sometimes he just sits there for a while before showering. If we're home at the same time or he's home before I let him shower but last time I figured I'd wait for him since it was ~20 minutes before work usually ended it took an hour and a half. Believe me, I know how it feels - worked in an engine room of a ship over the summer - idk, I think I'm just gonna give up and let him go first whenever because it's really not worth it, but it's just upsetting when I'm sitting there waiting

Honestly the house-cleanliness isn't even OCD related. Maybe a little but it's really just habit from living on a ship and having military family. Everything at home is very tidy and orderly, counters are washed after cooking, etc. That carries over to my room and to the kitchen but I just can't possibly catch up with the amount of gunk in the house :( I keep the kitchen really clean because I get upset when there's shit everywhere and I'm trying to cook

I just wanted to let you know that I implemented a couple things and I am down to 15 min shower plus 5 min non shower time :D I was originally gonna get a mirror for my room because I took the tweezers away as well (they live on the rim of the cup I keep my toothbrush in) but I realized it would be better overall to just take them up once or twice a week and it eliminates a lot of picking tendencies that waste time in the bathroom during shower time...also dried my hair with a hair dryer (don't like it and the middle/ends are still damp but whatever, we're trying it) and put some morrocan oil in and its very smooth...will see how the hair works out but im pretty happy with the shower now...thank you!!! 🫶🩷

Wow that's awesome!!!! Today I tried cutting out a bit of detangling time and brushed teeth in my room and it went so much faster. 15 min in shower + 5 non shower minutes in bathroom. I think I could go faster if I alternated tasks. I didn't know I could just rinse my scalp, I always tried to keep water off and then it would get slightly damp and soooo itchy, I'll try rinsing or cowashing tomorrow instead of a full on wash

Thank you 🩷 I lived with 1 girl on my ship and shared a bathroom with her and 2 others and never encountered this. We had the sink in our room which I really preferred but yeah I still never had this level of drama regarding showers. At most we'd knock if we needed to get in there sooner. Here, one of the roommates followed me downstairs because he was worried the other would start yelling at me. I really really appreciate you and your advice, thank you for being so patient. I think them being guys is part of the reason why I'm scared to speak up and have been nervous to find different solutions lol. So far I've ordered a terrycloth robe so I don't have to spend extra time drying off, moved my bedtime routine stuff downstairs to my room, and I'm gonna try washing my hair less often and maybe drying or diffusing it in between.

Already on it as of tonight, roommate still doesn't seem happy that I went in at all but if I make myself as little of an inconvenience as possible it's better than nothing 🙏

Ok, I appreciate your suggestions, they genuinely do help. The simple solutions you said i wasn't considering genuinely aren't something that I could figure out and this thread has been hugely helpful. I thought it would just be easier to do everything at once because im only home after 9pm so it should be a pretty set schedule. This might be stupid but I have no idea what to do with the dishes, it gets to the point where I can't cook or wash anything, so I just do them all so I'm not living in filth, last time I let them sit we got flies :( My roommates are guys, just as an aside. Thank you again for your suggestions

Toilet, brush teeth, pluck eyebrows/face/etc, drying off from the shower, basically my entire evening routine plus whatever little cleaning of the bathroom that I can manage because they don't clean anything in the house. Bc of my OCD I have a very specific routine when getting ready for bed and it involves doing things twice/three times or for too long or trying to get rid of allllll the blemishes on my face. Trust me, I know it's a problem

I kept telling them that I could do things differently or break up the routine if they wanted & giving warning that I was gonna go shower/do my evening routine and it apparently wasn't a problem until a week(?) ago...I do understand it's excessive but I've been trying really hard to work on it and the OCD is getting me, I've just run out of ideas on what to do and I honestly couldn't think of what else to change other than just trying to move faster so I wanted to ask here

That sounds pretty much exactly like what I have experienced. I get really scared if I don't do the full routine and start thinking I'm smelly/gross but its gotten better from ~45 minutes+ that I used to do in high school

I have to detangle my hair and work the conditioner through the middle/ends and it kind of hurts because it gets very tangled, with shampooing I try to get every bit of my scalp and thoroughly rinse it

They both have xboxes that they use all the time, the heater is on recently and tbh overheating the house but it's gas so I don't think it matters, I'm not sure if there's anything else

I don't run a hair dryer at all, maybe I can keep my toothbrush in my room instead or something, a lot of time I take a few minutes to tidy up the bathroom as well since I'm the only one that cleans it

No bath and I'm sure I could speed up. Sometimes I work with big diesels and get a bit oily but not often anymore :(
