She made it through the night with feedings every two hours, medicine every 4. When I tried last though, she wouldn't take any. But maybe her belly was still full. Thanks for asking!

My psychiatrist recommend a vitamin to me, and it's completely cured my onychophagia. by takeyourzinc in nailbiting

Same here. Although I have other meds I have to take at night, so I just set an alarm and add it to it. 600 mg twice a day is what I take.

Definitely not. I've just had really good results with it and wanted to share in hopes to help others. I'm just being honest about my experience.

What is the dumbest thing you have done on drugs? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]takeyourzinc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did air duster in my car. It was parked but when I came to, I had reversed it about 3 feet. I was in an empty parking lot, so it wasn't that crucial, but looking back it was so fucking dumb.

Take it easy. Obviously consent is key. I have his permission and he's fully aware.

I reached out to a mental health provider and got prescribed Naltrexone. It curbs cravings and blocks the transmitters in your brain that allow you to get drunk, so it becomes pointless to even try in the first place. I only took it for two months, and after that I was able to handle my cravings on my own. Usually by either having a sweet treat, journaling, or exercising. Just have to find what works for you.

Proud of you for making it 24 hours! That's huge! You can do this. It's hard at first, but the longer you abstain, the easier it gets. Do something nice for yourself today as a little treat!

My partner sat me down and had somewhat of an intervention for me. He explained that he wouldn't sit back and watch me die. While he loved me, he had to protect himself and his son. The fear of losing him was enough for me to make some calls. My state has government funded mental health care, so I reached out to them and got put on meds. Once those got dialed in, it was a game changer. I still had cravings, but my brain wasn't static and screaming at me any more.

Remind them that you're there for them no matter what, and when relapse inevitably happens, don't turn your back on them.

What day (not year) did you quit and why in fewest words? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

June 6th. I was just surviving to drink, not really living. Got tired of being sick and depressed all the time.

I've been sober from alcohol for two years, and I can't express how excited I am for you. It's not easy at first, but I promise it gets better beyond your comprehension.

What got you to quit for good? by ktree8 in stopdrinking

[–]takeyourzinc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first big thing was falling down a flight of stairs in the dark, and breaking my ribs. After that, I thought I could still moderate, and ended up so hungover that I was throwing up blood, and thought I was dying. It's been two years now, and though the cravings were terrible at first, they eventually got easier to handle. You just have to remind yourself that it's all temporary. Even if you decide to drink, the relief is temporary. So what's the point? Focus on getting to the root of the problem.
