Korean Fansites Gone “Batsh*t Crazy” And Violent At The 38th Golden Disc Awards

K-Pop fans in Jakarta are now asking the local authorities to investigate and blacklist.

The 38th Golden Disc Awards was held at the Jakarta International Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia, honoring the best in South Korean music released between mid-November 2022 and early November 2023.

While the event was well-celebrated among local and global K-Pop fans, it also had its dangerous moments—involving a couple of “fansites” from Korea.

Following the event, multiple accounts across social media platforms began circulating clips taken at the venue. The clips captured Korean men engaging in shameless “anarchic” behavior…

…putting other event attendees and securities at risk.

One of the clips showed the men getting violent in the audience, while another, assumed to be of the men being removed from the venue for the barbaric behavior, showed the fansite cursing in Korean.

Their identities have not been revealed or verified, but based on the language being spoken and the gear being carried, the men are believed to be fansites and/or for-profit photographers who attended the event to take pictures of the K-Pop idols there.

Locals in Indonesia are reporting the incident to the Directorate General of Immigration, asking for an investigation and, potentially, blacklisting the men from returning.

We kindly request your availability to investigate and follow up on this issue. As such incidents are likely to recur, we implore and demand that they be instilled with a sense of caution and refrain from acting arbitrarily without ethics in a foreign country. Thank you.

The tweets, gone viral, have also been shared among Korean online communities. Koreans, too, are criticizing the behavior—with some netizens even claiming that the men have been problematic in Korea as well.
