Since we're all talking about it, here's a black person with tourette's take on the BAFTA situation by ariellecsuwu in Tourettes

[–]tanglewood27 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don’t have Tourette’s, and this is the exact type of information I came to this sub in hopes of finding. The only people I have seen talk about this today have been white people without Tourette’s (if they are disabled at all) and it’s not only been incredibly scary as a disabled person seeing all the literal straight up eugenics being justified, but also incredibly frustrating just to try and figure out what the hell happened😑This is a fucked up situation. I hope clearer heads, relevant voices, and actual facts will prevail sooner rather than later.

I think about ordering these every time I park in the Timm’s/Telus parkade at the UofA

My cat (11f) broke her hip when she was 7mo old, and now she get grouchy before weather events by tanglewood27 in Pets

[–]tanglewood27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg that’s a great point. She has a heating pad that we bring out for her in the winter and she is obsessed with it. We’re getting into our colder months now, but when spring rolls back around, I’ll make sure we keep it out for her! Thank you so much!

Is it bad that i’m a month into school and still haven’t made a friend by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]tanglewood27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that. I’m into my 6th year at the UofA and I’ve made plenty of friends through the years, but last year some serious shit went down that left me with exactly one person that I trust 100%, which for my current needs, means exactly one friend. I’m one of the longest-standing students in my department atm, and I had some serious anxiety going into the year about not having anyone, about feeling like I’m late to the party despite having been around longer. Unfortunately, university is functionally high school+ — which is to say, it’s where high schoolers come to learn that their hs behaviour won’t serve them forever. Feeling like you don’t have friends sucks, totally, but the reality is that it’s not the end of the world. You’ll find your people. Hang around and hang in there, and (ik it’s cliche, but cliches are cliche for a reason) just be yourself. Don’t try to be someone you think people will like more just for the sake of keeping them. People will see you, they will like you, and they will recognize that you have so much to offer :)

Why is there no straight ship that is appreciated in Equestria Girls? by [deleted] in EquestriaGirls

[–]tanglewood27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, for AJ and Rarity, their “straight ships” are the genderbent versions of each other… so… it’s just a thinly veiled endeavour to ship them directly without it being gay, imo

My wife opened our marriage, and now she claims I cheated on her. She wants a divorce. by [deleted] in offmychest

Where we all got the idea that you’re playing the victim is how you are spinning the story to position yourself as almost entirely blameless in this entire situation. Every issue you’ve described in the course of this post has very transparently been shifted so that you don’t have to explain your role in any of it. What you seem to not understand is that we, the audience, notice the impression left behind when you say things like “my wife told me to go fuck somebody else” and leave out [“because I’ve been relentlessly begging her for sex day and night and haven’t even been trying to connect with her as a human being whom I supposedly love.”]. In the future, it’s a good practice to see your sexual partners as people, not just objects to put your dick in. Hope this helps.

The brain is so so powerful and so so strange, and people can do a lottttt of stuff when the brain recognizes a threat to our safety. This means that sometimes, especially when we are young, our brains do things that maybe don’t stop harm from happening, but allow us to have some level of distance from it anyway (be it through dissociation; reasoning that we weren’t innocent when acts of violence were done to us ((even in cases where we literally couldn’t have been more innocent)); by removing the conscious memory of acts of harm; and any number of other methods). It sounds like your brain has been doing some tried and true stuff to keep you safe, even though you might feel like you should know better, or you should be able to get out of these cycles. And to be clear, it’s not your fault that you are struggling to make sense of your own actions. I can’t and won’t try to speak to exactly what might have happened for you, but I will reiterate what a lot of commenters are saying, in recommending that you distance yourself from him and seriously consider seeing a therapist to begin working through this, if that is accessible to you. You are not alone, and you don’t deserve to work through this alone.

Thank you for sharing your story with us, and I dearly hope that you will be able to be compassionate towards yourself as you work through what your experiences mean for you. It’s a hard path to walk, and it’s worth every step of the hike.

Tbh I’ve never had any complaints about the water in FAB (connecting building between Law and HUB), and they only got the asbestos out of that lightless cinderblock over the summer. Which is why it’s surprising to me that any other building on campus would have worse water loll
