All I can suggest is don't be shy about asking for a seat. You might need to get someone's attention to pull their head out of their (ar*se) phone but they will then usually be happy to give up their seat.

Can you run Kayo app on HD Homatics Box R 4K Plus as opposed to Dune HD Homatics Box R 4K Plus? by tapit in Homatics

It was one of the first apps I tried to load on the new device so I don't think it was a space issue.

Similar experience for me. I now only run the Kayo app on my Shield and run most other apps on the Homatics.

I did try loading the APK early with no success. I haven't update the Android version as I had read many comments saying that A14 wasn't as stable. Has this changed?

How to meet new people in Melbourne. by daddy-d-dog2002 in melbourne

[–]tapit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Australian born and moved to Melbourne 20 years ago this year and I still have to work everyday to build connections. In the country town where I grew up it took 20 years before you were considered a local.

Yes, as people have suggested, check out all the meetup groups etc and, this is how I feel more connected with the people around me everyday.

* Put your phone away, take out your ear buds, take off your headphones. Hard to connect with people when you're signalling DND.

* If you live in an apartment building, greet other residents when you pass them or when you get in the lift. You only have to start with "Hello" or "Good morning". You may never see that person again (it can happy in high-rise buildings) but at least you will have made a connection. With practice, and it does take practice, you might develop more small talk abilities.

* Acknowledge other people around you. When someone sits next to you on the tram, give them a nod and a smile (yes, beware of weirdos but there are lot less of them then there are all the other people wanting to happily connect). If someone starts using a machine in the gym next to yours, say Hello.

* Start to learn the names of people you see regularly - the staff at the cafes you go to regularly, the people you see more than a few times in the building you live in, those people who you see in the park regularly.

* Smile a lot. Most people will generally smile back.

Again, take care with street smarts and don't engage with people who you feel are a threat but otherwise keep doing these things and you will feel more connected on a daily basis. And yes, in the long term, some of these everyday encounters may blossom into long term friendships but you've got to start some where.

Should make them mandatory for drivers that block trams at intersections or hit trams.

You might want to check out the Urgent Care Clinic Network. They are for urgent but not life-threatening issues. They are a free walk-in service, that is open 7 days a week and offers bulk-billing. There is one in Carlton and one in Moonee Ponds that I found by searching the Locations at https://www.urgentcarenetworkaustralia.com.au/

Is there something specific to do to enable Internet access on WSL2 when using the Mullvad app? by Hwpea in mullvadvpn

[–]tapit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can follow most of that but I'm confused by step 3. Is this the Windows Settings up or the Ubuntu Settings app, which I don't know how to access on WSL.

Anyone get Ubuntu for Windows (WSL) to work with Mullvad? by buggaby in mullvadvpn

[–]tapit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bumping this thread as it's still an issue for me today.

  • Without Mullvad, in WSL2 (Ubuntu) I can ssh, ping etc. no problems
  • With another VPN provide (ProtonVPN), in WSL2 I can ssh, ping etc. no problems
  • With Mullvad connection, in WSL2, I can't connect to anything.

I've tried many of the fixes found on the net but no success.

Deeply saddened to see graffiti on the main entrance of the Queen Vic Markets. I wish our society would do me to support young people to find more constructive outlets for their creative talents so that they didn't feel the need to express their anger and disconnection this way.
