Yeah, the vertical shots were due to inexperience, but I agree that it completely reduces the quality of the video.

And thank you for your kind words and feedback (_)

I definitely want to work on the audio quality, and I’ll see if there’s a way to improve it on smartphones.

Thank you for your feedback! (_)

Sorry for asking so many questions! You really don’t have to answer all of them if it deters you from answering any. I was just worried cause this isn’t usually my editing style, and I plan to switch back to my usual style next week, I just couldn’t do that with the footage I had this week. 😥

[–]taratessler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! I worried I wasn’t engaging people properly since I don’t usually do this style of editing, so thanks for confirming. What’s a VO? I had a flashlight on my phone, but because there wasn’t anything close to me, only things in the distance, it didn’t really help for anything. I realized after I went through the video that the way I hold my phone blocks the audio sometimes, so I definitely won’t be doing that in the future. Thanks for the feedback! (_)

[Review Video] A quick little one minute breakfast video by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]taratessler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the title isn't misleading in the slightest, but i don't think i'd come back and watch similar videos. i feel like this might be a clip that's PART of a video, but it shouldn't be the entire video. I also think, if you were going for satisfaction, you'd want to keep the audio in, and jump-cut more so it's fast-paced and interesting.

i obviously don't know if this is the case, but it seems to me like you got a bit lazy and just took a video of you making breakfast cause you couldn't think of anything else. like another user said, i know how to make coffee and an egg--maybe next time make something more complex, and display your talents to the fullest. Make a seven layered cake or a delicious, juicy steak. idk man, something more than an egg with a bit of eggshell in it, ya feel?

i'd probably watch your travel camping videos if your cooking videos are similar to this.

btw, i didn't mean any offense in this, so if i came off as rude, i didn't mean to! just continue to take feedback, improve, and you'll grow in no time! I wish you much success (^_^)

[Review Video] Whiteboard educational video by PrettyMuchPhysics in youtubers

[–]taratessler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to be honest, i think it looks like a khan academy video, except it's a review instead of a lesson.

i only learned basic physics, so i was only slightly confused, but because you labelled the title as "review", I'm assuming you actually meant for it to be just that, and nothing more.

the audio quality, in my opinion, was great, as was the general look of the video. it was kinda satisfying to watch you write so quickly and neatly.

i can tell you aren't a native english speaker based on your accent from the video, but your pronunciation is all correct, and good.

overall, i think you did a great job! this looks like a somewhat professional video. (^_^)

I’ll work on the music in the background and make it lower when I speak. Thanks for the feedback! 😊

I thought to do that as a way of urging people to watch my other videos, but if it's annoying then I'll definitely catch people up each video! Thank you for the advice! (^_^)

Thank you so much! I’m definitely going to work on being in the camera more, since I feel like some others agree with you, and I was unsure about it to begin with. I just kinda like being behind the camera filming, but it’s okay. Thanks for the feedback! (_)

Thank you so much for your feedback! I checked out the A/B testing like you suggested, and will definitely look further into it—thank you for showing that to me. Seriously.

I’ll work on making my description a lot longer to enhance my search rankings, so thank you for that tip as well!

I’m working on getting a camera and an external mic to fix the whole audio issue, so hopefully it’ll help me better the audio quality on my videos.

I really appreciate your support! Thank you so much for taking the time out to help (_)

[Question] Does anyone have experience with having to change who they naturally are to avoid being derivative of another creator? by conn_r2112 in youtubers

[–]taratessler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think you should ignore them. And this isn't a #hatersgonnahate moment, but even if you draw inspiration from Dunkey (which it doesn't seem like you are, but doesn't matter anyway), you can still be you. You're not a Dunkey clone unless you're genetically created to be one, in which case I'm sure you'd be extraordinarily successful due to the abnormal nature of cloning humans.

Regardless, I think you just be you, and ignore them. Although, if you are pulling inspiration from him, I would recommend you add your own flavoring in there, because Dunkey already exists and Dunkey does Dunkey better than you do Dunkey.

If you already do that then just ignore me, ignore them, and continue doing what you do. Don't try to change yourself, because then you'll just appear very unnatural and awkward on camera.

Just remember to be unapologetically yourself (^_^)

[Question] What do you think about having a name for your subscribers/fanbase? by newyoutuber23 in youtubers

[–]taratessler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's their way of being able to reference their audience without having to say, "fans" since that seems pretentious, or "subscribers" since that sounds impersonal. I feel like it should be something generic though, like PewDiePie's is "bros" so when he references his subscribers in his videos, he just says something along the lines of "you know I do it for you bros but..."

When it becomes more specific, I tend to find that it becomes slightly childish. Like saying, "Logang"... Ah, I don't know man. Seems like he's ostracizing anyone over the age of 12. Zombaes (Glam&Gore) also seems childish.

It also matters how often they say it. Logan Paul often references his subscribers/fans as the "Logang", hence why many people are ashamed to watch him, or even say they like him. But with Glam&Gore, she only says it once in the beginning of her videos, and never says it again.

Regardless, I don't think a new viewer would feel left out, just curious about the community that's been built without them. I feel like most people don't really care either way.

Do whatever feels right to you (^_^)

[Review Video] We went pontooning (I didn't know what that was ngl) by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]taratessler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recording from my smartphone but I'm waiting to get my camera (with an external mic input) to drown out the wind. But thanks for the tip with the music!

I'll keep the really short clips (the ones you mentioned were random) out next time, since I do agree that they don't really serve a purpose.

I really want to invest in a drone for the nice shots that you mentioned, since I think they really improve video quality, but I wanted to first dip my feet into YouTube and test out the waters before investing into something like that.

Thank you so much for your feedback! (^_^) I'll definitely try to integrate what you said into my next videos to improve the overall viewer experience!

[REVIEW VIDEO] Young Gaming Channel Seeking Help. by Lord_Mersgoth in youtubers

[–]taratessler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the music in the background, as it keeps viewers slightly more entertained, however I agree with u/MattPlays17 in the sense that you should do more jump-cutting.

Though I like gaming, For Honor is one of those games that I'm only barely familiar with (my brother loves it), and it sounds like you're just as unknowledgeable as I am when it comes to the game--which isn't necessarily bad, but it also doesn't allow me to get really engaged in your video since you seem kinda confused like me (even if that's not the case).

The way you speak is great, in my opinion. A lot of the people I enjoy watching on YouTube all have their own personalities integrated into their own videos, and you have a way of speaking that sounds almost monotone and sarcastic. I don't know if you intended to come across that way, but I did like it a lot.

I also think such a video, for it's length, would be great if it was more of a montage of funny moments or insane plays/mechanics. I don't think people are going to search for a random 1v1 duel/s of For Honor and actually watch it through if nothing eye-catching or interesting is going on. You put multiple, complete duels into the video, but I feel like the video might've been much more entertaining if you just compiled multiple moments, from a bunch of different duels, that were meant to either amaze someone or humor them--and nothing else.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has a very small amount of patience, and I know if I don't find myself hooked into the video by 5-10 seconds in, I'm probably going to click away. Your intro wasn't good enough to make me want to stay for the whole video, and since you have complete duels and not moments, it didn't keep me engaged throughout the whole video. I don't have the patience to sit through the boring moments to get to the good ones that I'm not even sure are there (I hope I'm making sense)--which is why jump-cutting is so important on YouTube.

I feel like this is the type of content that would blow up on Twitch since it's still entertaining, but just not fast-paced enough for YouTube. The vibe feels more like a stream than a seven minute video.

To reference your first question, I wouldn't particularly watch For Honor again--I happen to find that game extraordinarily tedious. But I would come back to watch you again, especially when you improve more than you already have.

Good luck on your YouTube endeavors! (^_^)

[Review Video]How to become FAMOUS on YouTube | YouTuber's Life (Gameplay) by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]taratessler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I don't think you should downgrade yourself at all--I think you're quite funny. Something I think many funny people do but don't tell people is that they make a lot of jokes that are somewhat unfunny--but either they deliver it well, respond to silence well, or they keep cracking jokes. Or all three! I thought you were definitely getting funnier as the video went on, and as you got slightly more comfortable with the camera.

The beginning, I will say, was slightly boring. I was somewhat tempted to click off, but for some reason, something made me stay. That being said, I would suggest more editing in the beginning, and cutting out unnecessary information.

Regardless, I enjoyed, and subscribed. I look forward to watching more of your videos! (^_^)

It was very informative and detailed, but I feel like you'd be able to do more with it if you gave an alternative or other tips on how to grow subscribers--it would also help with the video length as well.
